DEPUTY COURT CLERK II / INTERPRETER COORDINATOR
– COURT REPORTERS & INTERPRETERS DIVISION (Class Code 420C) Eligible San Francisco Superior Court Employees Only The Deputy Court Clerk II/Interpreter Coordinator position is open to current San Francisco Superior Court employees who (1) are under a permanent appointment with the Court, or (2) previously held a permanent appointment and accepted a temporary appointment without a break in service. Individuals who are not current Court employees, or current temporary Court employees who did not previously hold a permanent appointment without a break in service, may not apply. The San Francisco Superior Court seeks qualified individuals to serve as Deputy Court Clerk II/Interpreter Coordinator in the Court Reporters and Interpreters Division. This role performs a wide variety of general court support work, including legal document processing, collaboration with public agencies, data entry, table coordination, and other court-related duties as required (e.g., correspondence via phone and email; coordinating schedules; recruiting and hiring interpreters; and following up with litigants, justice partners, court staff, attorneys, and doctors). Performs a wide variety of Court support work requiring substantial knowledge of Court functions, policies, and procedures. Reviews documents, researches discrepancies, and verifies information. Schedules interpreters for court hearings, jail/out-of-court interviews, and psychological evaluations. Coordinates and distributes assignments to Staff Interpreters and Independent Contractors. Processes payment declarations and expense substantiation for Independent Contractors. Reviews and acquires Independent Contractor rates and expenses. Provides information to attorneys, litigants, and the public. Regularly serves as a liaison with other Court departments, agencies, and concerned parties. Provides input and collaborates with court staff and public agencies to establish or improve procedures. Enters and retrieves data from computer systems. Accepts legal documents, reviewing them for correct form. Operates a variety of office machines and equipment. Maintains and updates files and databases. Generates computer reports. May perform system testing and screen development work. Performs other job-related duties as required. Work is performed in an office environment with ongoing contact with judicial officers, attorneys, litigants, other staff, other government agencies, and the public. Typical Physical Requirements:

A typical path is: One year of experience equivalent to a Deputy Court Clerk I with the Superior Court of California, County of San Francisco. Desirable Qualifications Knowledge of California statutes related to court procedures, including the California Government Code, Code of Civil Procedure, Penal Code, Vehicle Code, Probate Code, Family Code, Welfare and Institutions Code, Rules of Court and related statutes. Public and community relations. Legal terminology, procedures and documents used in court cases and their statutory filing requirements. Preparation and coordination of interpreter assignments. Establishment and maintenance of filing and information retrieval systems. Personal computers and software applications related to court support work. Proper English grammar, spelling and usage. Research, understand, interpret, explain, and utilize California statutes related to court procedures. Perform court support work involving judgment and accuracy. Prepare clear, concise, and accurate records and reports. Type at 35 words per minute or use a keyboard with comparable speed and accuracy. Review legal documents for correctness of form, completeness, and conformance with requirements. Use a personal computer and software for word processing, record keeping, and court support functions. Operate standard office machines and equipment. Read, write, and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance.
