Junior Lifeguard(s): North Kingstown Town Beach North Kingstown Recreation Department Full- and part-time summer positions responsible for assisting lifeguarding at Town facilities; applicants are required to have and maintain all current Rhode Island certifications as required by the State of Rhode Island, including Non-Surf Beach Credential, First Aid, CPR and AED certifications. The Town of North Kingstown will reimburse for some certifications and will pair you with a mentor while training; some hours will be worked independently once comfortable. Will be required to work weekends and holidays and are 15-16 years of age. Required to work from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend and be aware of schedule conflicts in advance of committing to the summer season. The season does require work on holidays and holiday weekends, these include but are not limited to Memorial Day, Independence Day, Victory Day, and Labor Day.
Note: the North Kingstown Town Beach is only open on weekends in June, then is open 7 days/week until Labor Day. Operational hours are 9 a.m. through 5 p.m.
Vigilance:
constantly monitor water and beach areas for safety concerns.
Water rescue:
lifeguards should be able to dive under surf, perform water rescue techniques and bring a victim to the shoreline.
First Aid:
staff should be able to provide basic first aid.
Communication:
staff should be able to communicate clearly with others, especially supervisors in a professional manner.
Attention to detail:
lifeguards should be aware of what's going on around them and have attention to details.
Safety Consciousness: staff should be safety conscious and have a sense of responsibility.
Teamwork: staff should be able to work with a team.
Patience:
staff should have patience, especially when dealing with beach patrons.
Pay Rate $16.50 - $18/hr
