Overview

A leading global engineering and consulting firm is seeking a dynamic Managing Director to lead its Building Diagnostics & Forensics practice. This executive-level role oversees technical excellence, team leadership, market growth, and strategic direction across all diagnostic, forensic, and restoration service lines.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute the long‑term vision for the Building Diagnostics & Forensics group.
  • Drive growth in core service areas: forensic investigations, structural assessments, building envelope diagnostics, failure analysis, and repair/rehabilitation design.
  • Partner with executive leadership on business planning, market expansion, and financial performance.

Technical Excellence

  • Provide high‑level oversight on complex forensic investigations, litigation support, and failure analyses.
  • Ensure rigorous QA/QC across all deliverables.
  • Lead development of technical standards, new methodologies, and innovative diagnostic approaches.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop multidisciplinary engineers and technical staff across multiple offices.
  • Support hiring strategy, workforce planning, and professional development initiatives.
  • Cultivate a collaborative, high‑performance culture.

Client & Market Development

  • Strengthen relationships with owners, attorneys, architects, contractors, and insurance partners.
  • Serve as a senior technical resource for high‑visibility clients.
  • Lead proposal strategy, key pursuits, and thought‑leadership initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, or Architectural Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • 15+ years of experience in building diagnostics, forensics, restoration, or related practice areas.
  • Professional Engineering (PE/SE) license required.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams, managing operations, and delivering profitable growth.
  • Deep expertise in structural systems, building envelopes, material behavior, and failure mechanisms.
  • Exceptional communication, business development, and client‑management skills.
