JOB SUMMARY Biostatistical Consultant I, Neurology - (923669)

Works under general direction to provide statistical consultation for faculty, staff, and students. This role collaborates with Dr. Salter, research staff, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high quality study design, data integrity, and accurate interpretation of statistical findings. The consultant contributes to research development through statistical analysis plans, data management strategies, and analytical execution to support publications, presentations, grants, and regulatory submissions.

This position will perform statistical analyses and apply machine-learning techniques to biomedical datasets. This role emphasizes statistical reasoning, interpretation, and communication. Experience performing statistical analyses in a biomedical or healthcare environment preferred. The ideal candidate will have proficiency in R or SAS for statistical modeling and data analysis; familiarity with supervised machine-learning methods (e.g., penalized regression, random forests, gradient boosting) and appropriate model validation practices; and, the ability to clearly communicate analytical findings to investigators and collaborators. A master\'s degree in biostatistics, statistics, bioinformatics, computer science (with strong statistical training, epidemiology, or related quantitative field) will be highly considered.

Responsibilities

Conducting data cleaning, preparation, and quality checks.

Performing statistical analyses including regression, longitudinal modeling, survival analysis, hypothesis testing, and data exploration.

Applying appropriate machine-learning methods to biomedical data with an emphasis on clinical relevance, interpretability, and reproducibility.

Conducting model validation using established performance metrics and cross-validation techniques.

Documenting all analytical steps following reproducible research practices.

Producing tables, figures, and analytic summaries for investigators.

Assisting with preparation of statistical portions of manuscripts, abstracts, posters, and grant applications.

Education Master's Degree In biostatistics or related discipline, or MPH with a concentration in biostatistics

Experience 1 year In statistical consulting with preference given to experience working in biomedical or health care environment and Requires working knowledge of SAS, SPSS or other major statistical package (S+, R, etc.) and Microsoft Office (ACCESS and EXCEL)

JOB DUTIES

Collaborates with investigators to identify problems and provide statistical consultation including design of experiments of survey, analysis of data, interpretation of results and preparation of reports.

Writes statistical portion of manuscript based on results of analysis and address manuscript revisions based on reviewer\'s comments.

Performs statistical computations.

Provides graphical and tabular representations.

Develops, maintains and modifies programs for in-house use.

Collaborates with investigators in grant development including statistical design of studies and preparation of statistical portion of grant proposal.

Performs non-statistical components of consulting such as providing analogous examples and explanations using non-technical terminology, and helping researchers formulate and clarify research issues.

Visits client\'s work field whenever possible to establish rapport and to become familiar with and interested in client\'s research and data.

Performs other duties as assigned.
