The Marketing & Planning Intern supports Agency for Community Transit (ACT) and its programs operated by Madison County Transit (MCT), including fixed route services, microtransit, paratransit, the RideFinders program, and the MCT Trails, by assisting with outreach, content creation, campaign support, and event coordination.

This role is hands-on and community-facing: you'll help create clear, helpful public information and support efforts that connect people to transportation options across the region. This position supports ACT's purpose and objectives by respecting and adhering to all policies and procedures of the Agency.

Essential Functions includes but are not limited to:

Assist with marketing campaigns for MCT services, including RideFinders and the MCT Trails. Support outreach efforts including tabling, community events, employer/school engagement, and pop-up informational activities. Assemble, inventory, and organize outreach materials (giveaways, brochures, signage, handouts, etc.). Help staff prepare for and support public meetings or community feedback efforts (logistics support, materials prep, sign-in sheets, comment card handling, etc.). Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements

Completion of one-year undergraduate work in marketing or related field. Strong written communication skills. Comfortable interacting with the public in a professional, friendly manner. Organized with good follow-through; able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); ability to learn new software tools as needed. Ability to work cooperatively with staff, partners, and vendors at all levels. Initiative, creativity, and attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication. Professional business appearance. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Normal working conditions are typical of an office environment, with regular use of a computer, phone, and standard office equipment. This position also includes fieldwork at outreach activities, public meetings, and community events. Occasional work outside standard business hours may be required to support events.

Physical requirements include sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment; visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens; and speaking/hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person and by phone. The position requires the ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods during events and outreach activities. Must be able to lift, carry, and move outreach materials and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds, and to set up/break down basic event materials (tables, banners, displays, boxes of materials).

Duration

Spring 2026 Semester Hours

Part-time, Monday through Friday, maximum 25 hours a week. Occasional evening or weekend required.
