Job Purpose and Overview
The Senior Director FSQA is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the development, implementation, and optimization of compliance, food safety standards, quality management and audit process activities at Dawn Foods. This position oversees and enhances our organization\'s food safety programs, ensuring compliance with all federal and local regulatory standards, maintaining high-quality standards, and overseeing internal and external audits. As a Senior Leader, this role requires an elevated level of expertise, prior leadership experience, technical proficiency in food safety and compliance, quality management and audit processes. This position is responsible for the coaching, supervision, and development of several direct reports. The Senior Director, Food Safety & Quality Assurance, will provide oversight to all Corporate Quality and Plant Quality managers and will lead the following functions: plant quality, supplier quality, distribution quality, customer complaints, FSQA audits, Dawn Manufacturing, Dawn Distribution (buy/sell), and quality continuous improvement. Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement the company\'s overall food safety, quality, and audit strategies in alignment with short-term and long-term business priorities. Provide strategic direction and guidance to cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and industry best practices. Drives accountability and follow-through with all customer-related concerns, emphasizing efficient, quick resolution and short response times. Proven leadership, communication, and diplomacy skills needed to effect evolutionary change in Dawn quality processes. Develops people leaders who motivate teams and individuals. Food Safety and Quality Management
Develop, implement, and maintain robust food safety and quality management systems to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and certifications (FDA, HACCP, GFSI, ISO, etc.). Develop new methods and tools to enhance food safety and quality management processes. Ability to drive change management to improve across the North American Quality Team. Create and maintain methods for establishing project priorities, defining metrics, and tracking progress. Foster a Culture of Quality throughout the organization. Set and help meet Quality goals (First Pass Quality), Customer Complaint rate, etc., and build a culture of continuous improvement. Food Safety Regulatory Compliance
Stay updated on relevant food safety regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies; ensure organization-wide compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Interact with regulatory agencies, auditors, and certification bodies to address inquiries, inspections, and audits. Auditing and Product Inspections
Review results and action plans from third-party audits and inspections, including customer, regulatory, and certification audits. Team Management and Development
Lead and manage a team of food safety, quality and audit professionals, providing mentorship, coaching and development opportunities to ensure high-quality talent. What Does It Take to be a Senior Director, Food Safety & Quality Assurance at Dawn Foods?
Below are the minimum qualifications to be a fit for this job. Bachelor\'s degree required; technical background such as Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Biological Science, or related fields preferred. Extensive experience (minimum 15 years) in food safety, quality assurance and audit roles within the CPG / Food Industry. Working in B2B, CPG, or other food background required. Understanding of financial business scope and prior budgetary accountability required. Strong knowledge of food safety regulation, industry standards and certification programs (SQF, BRC, FSSC 220000, etc.). Proven track record of developing and implementing successful food safety and quality management systems. Extensive experience using Microsoft Project and SharePoint. Excellent leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization. Professional certifications such as Certified Food Safety Professional (CFSP) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) are a plus but not required. Physical Demands & Work Environment
