Position Overview The University of North Texas Dance and Theatre Department is searching for a qualified sound designer for the department's production of The Tempest. The sound designer will be asked to perform a variety of tasks, including providing all music and composition for the production, recruiting and rehearsing with any live musicians, and attending rehearsals and production meetings. Must also demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills as they will be working with students, staff, faculty, and outside guest artists.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years of music and sound composition experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of music and sound composition within a live theatrical context. Ability to record music, as needed, and convert music and sound files to appropriate format for theater space. Ability to recruit and rehearse with live musicians, as needed.
Job Duties
Provide all music and composition for the production in a format that can be accessed in the theater's sound system.
Teach any music to the actors/musicians.
Attend Rehearsals, Design, and Production Meetings as needed.
Attend the dress rehearsals and coordinate with the production team.
Physical Requirements
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing.
Environmental Hazards
No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Work Schedule Flexible schedule created in coordination with supervisor and production crew.
Driving University Vehicle No
