Frostburg State University's Financial Aid Office seeks applications for an exempt, full-time Financial Aid Counselor. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; University System of Maryland benefits package includes annual leave, holidays, personal, and sick leave; tuition remission; health and life insurance, and retirement plans. Responsibilities:

The Financial Aid Counselor is responsible for serving as the first point of contact for students and parents inquiring about Financial Aid. Helping students apply for Federal, State and Institutional aid and providing the status of their applications. Under general supervision, provide moderately complex administrative support to an individual, office, department, or program. Work requires thorough knowledge of the organization and programs where assigned and involves moderate participation in the work of the supervisor. Incumbents have responsibility for office operations and function independently, where procedures have been established with moderate consequence of error. Tasks include, but are not limited to, verification of FAFSA data, reviewing tax information, confirming number in household, and any other data required throughout the financial aid process. The counselor will be responsible for making corrections to the FAFSA and documenting any professional judgement situations. The position is also responsible for assisting families with their Financial Aid questions at campus visit and text events. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree 1-3 years of experience with customer service, in a financial, education, accounting, counseling, or related field. Excellent knowledge and experience with technology, including equipment (PCs, scanners; etc.); software applications (student systems, MS Office; MS TEAMS; Zoom; Etrieve or similar document imaging technology; financial aid programs), PeopleSoft; as well as the ability and motivation to acquire and apply new knowledge and implement new software applications.
