This position advances a culture of continuous learning aligned with the institution’s strategic priorities. The Director serves as a trusted partner to academic and administrative leaders, ensuring learning solutions support organizational effectiveness, employee engagement, workforce readiness, and leadership capacity across the institution.**ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:*** Develops and leads a comprehensive learning and professional development strategy aligned with institutional goals, workforce priorities and HR strategy.* Serves as the institutional subject matter expert on learning, leadership development, and organizational capability building.* Advances a culture of continuous learning and shared responsibility for professional growth.* Leads the assessment of current and future workforce skill and capability needs to inform learning strategy, program design and resource allocation.* Partners with HR colleagues and campus leaders on organizational development initiatives, including change management, succession planning, and talent development.* Serves as a trusted internal consultant to leaders on learning needs, leadership challenges, and professional development solutions.* Designs and deliversindividual and group coachingfor employees, managers, and leaders to support performance, development and career progression.* Oversees the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of learning initiatives to include but not limited to: new employee onboarding, supervisor and manager development, leadership development programs, compliance and required training, and career and professional skill development.* Ensures learning offerings are inclusive, accessible, and responsive to diverse employee populations.* Provides strategic oversight of the Learning Management System (LMS) and other learning technologies.* Establishes metrics and evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness, impact and outcomes of learning initiatives; uses data and feedback to inform decision making.* Manages the learning and professional development budget, including vendor contracts and external facilitators.* Leads, mentors, and develops learning and development staff.* Represents the institution in professional networks and higher education learning communities.* Attends work activities or programs as scheduled or assigned.**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:*** Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design principles, and leadership development best practices.* Strong facilitation, communication, and consultation skills.* Proficient computer skills with the ability to learn new software.* Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other college supported systems.* Excellent communication skills including active listening.* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.* Ability to work well with minimal supervision in a team-orientated environment.* Ability to demonstrate cooperation and professionalism while maintaining patience and understanding in stressful situations.* Ability to work on campus in an office-based or classroom-style environment.* Ability to effectively work and interact with various cultures and ethnicities.**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:*** Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, or a related field.* Seven (7) years of progressive experience in learning and development, employee development, or organizational development.* Demonstrated experience designing and leading institution-wide learning or leadership development programs.* Supervisory and program management experience.* Experience working collaboratively in a complex, decentralized organization.* Ability to travel between campuses for meetings or position responsibilities.* Must pass a background check.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:*** Master’s degree in a related field.* Experience in higher education or public-sector organization.* Experience with learning technologies and learning management systems.* Demonstrated experience in professional or leadership coaching.* Certification such as SHRM-SCP/CP, ATD CPLP, or equivalent.**The specific statements shown in each section of this description are not intended to be all inclusive.
