KEYC News Now is searching for a talent who can not only chase down a story but also command the anchor desk and produce a killer newscast. If you are a storyteller who thrives on urgency, connects deeply with people, and sees every platform—from broadcast to TikTok—as an opportunity to inform, then get ready to make your mark. We are looking for someone who can own the news from concept to air (and online), delivering content that resonates with our viewers. Duties/Responsibilities
Create compelling content: report, shoot, write, voice, and edit daily news stories for both television and our digital platforms, ensuring each piece is relevant and engaging. Lead the newscast: anchor and produce dynamic newscasts as needed, bringing energy and authority to every broadcast and keeping viewers informed and connected. Own the story cycle: generate 3+ fresh story ideas daily and break news live on location, driving local coverage. Drive digital engagement: master social media and online news production, updating our website and social accounts with urgency and immediacy. Connect with the community: build authentic relationships and think like a viewer to deliver news that matters to the local community. Collaborate with the news team: bring a positive attitude and leadership skills to every shift, even when schedules shift. Uphold standards: adhere to high standards of news judgment, ethics, and station branding in all content. Qualifications/Requirements
A Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field. Proven broadcast journalism experience with knowledge of newsroom rhythms and live television demands. Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills: clear, concise copy that engages audiences. A digital-first mindset: understand and execute digital/social media strategy with urgency. Strong news judgment and ethics: ability to tell complex stories responsibly. Grit to go get the story: able to carry 35-45 pounds of ENG equipment and cover features to breaking news. Excellent time management and ability to work under tight deadlines. Integrity, accountability, and a team-focused attitude. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
