Your role as a Sr. Graphic Designer:
You will be responsible for concepting and executing visually compelling design solutions that support the San Diego Padres’ brand, marketing, and digital initiatives. This role serves as a key creative partner across the organization, delivering high-quality design work while helping elevate design standards, workflows, and visual storytelling.
The ideal candidate is a strong designer, a digital-first mindset, and experience thriving in a fast-paced, live-event environment. This role does not have direct reports but is expected to lead by example and mentor junior designers through craft, collaboration, and execution.
All the responsibilities we will trust you with:
Design & Creative Execution
Concept, design, and produce high-quality visual assets across a wide range of platforms, including:
Digital and social media graphics
Marketing and campaign creative
Game-day and ballpark visuals
Ticketing, promotions, and fan engagement initiatives
Community, special events, and brand moments
Translate creative direction and campaign goals into strong, on-brand design solutions
Maintain brand consistency while pushing creative excellence and innovation
Execute work efficiently under tight deadlines, especially during the MLB season and offseason
Brand & Visual Storytelling
Uphold and apply Padres brand standards across all design work
Contribute ideas and concepts that help evolve the club’s visual identity
Ensure accuracy, attention to detail, and production readiness in all deliverables
Adapt designs for multiple formats, platforms, and use cases
Collaboration & Creative Partnership
Collaborate closely with Graphic Design, Digital, Social Media, Content, Video, and Marketing teams
Work cross-functionally to support integrated campaigns and storytelling initiatives
Collaborate with external vendors and printers as needed
Creative Leadership & Mentorship
Serve as a creative role model and informal mentor to junior designers
Provide thoughtful feedback and support during critiques and reviews
Help maintain and improve design templates, systems, and asset libraries
Stay current on design trends, digital best practices, and creative innovation in sports and entertainment
Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most
Fundamental knowledge of page-layout, typography, and design principles
Proven experience designing PowerPoint presentations, infographics, web banners, and sponsorship elements
Proficient computer skills including experience with MS Office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc., with a main emphasis on PowerPoint, and general knowledge of basic office equipment including copier, laser printer, telephone, and computer
Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and effectively work well with others in a collaborative, respectful manner
Exceptional time management and organizational skills with capacity to handle high volumes of detailed work, multi-task and manage projects on strict deadlines
Maintain professional demeanor with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and accountability
Maintain consistent, punctual, and reliable attendance
Experience working within professional sports or live-event environments preferred
Familiarity with motion graphics workflows and collaboration a plus but not necessary
Experience designing for large-scale environments (ballpark, signage, experiential) preferred
Understanding of sponsorship integration and branded content
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age by the start of employment
4-year Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, or related field
Minimum 5 years professional graphic design experience, preferably in sports, entertainment, or a consumer-facing brand
Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
Able to work flexible hours including Padres home games, evenings, weekends, holidays, special events, and extended hours as needed
Able to travel as needed
Fluently bilingual in English/Spanish a plus
Minimum physical requirements: able to travel to and gain access to various areas of the ballpark for prolonged periods of time during games and events; able to lift and transport up to 25 pounds
As a condition of employment, you must successfully complete all post-offer, pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check
Salary and Benefits Per the California pay transparency law, the base salary range for this full-time position is $70,000 to $75,000. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, job-related skills and any other factors the San Diego Padres considers relevant to the hiring decision for this position.
In addition to the base salary, the Padres believe in providing a very competitive and generous compensation and benefits package for its employees.
