DTC Subscriber Growth & Monetization is a highly visible team of professionals with backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, private equity, media & entertainment, and technology who serve as in-house advisers to the Direct-to-Consumer’s executive leadership and own the global subscriber, engagement, and revenue growth planning and reporting. The team’s activities and accomplishments have contributed to the rapid growth and success of the Direct-to-Consumer business.
Role Summary Disney is seeking an accomplished Manager to play a key role in supporting the direct-to-consumer business, focused on Disney+ International. They will assist the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) subscriber planning process, helping to identify key business issues, provide solutions, and evaluate strategic initiatives. This includes modeling subscriber growth, developing and tracking KPIs to drive execution and operational improvement, identifying new business and product opportunities, and more.
The right candidate will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with strategic and conceptual thinking. They should be an excellent communicator, capable of working with multiple stakeholders, and have a track record of delivering results in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. The role may require working outside standard West Coast business hours due to collaboration with overseas teams.
Responsibilities and Duties of the Role
Collaborate with local regional teams on the EMEA subscriber business planning process with understanding and justification of key metrics based on trend analysis; forecast and model impacts from internal factors (content, product) and external factors (macroeconomics, competitors); integrate initiatives from marketing, product, content, and data teams.
Maintain understanding of operating performance (acquisition, retention), major deals and transactions, issues and trends in the streaming business; develop impactful presentation materials that communicate projections, drivers, performance, and risks & opportunities to leadership.
Provide strategic recommendations for new business initiatives; quantify business issues and analyze large amounts of subscriber data from prior events to inform decisions, combining analytical interpretation with market and consumer insights.
Basic Requirements
Minimum four years of professional work experience in media, tech, strategy, business planning, management consulting, or investment banking/private equity
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or a similar analytical field; MBA or other graduate degree preferred
Strong Excel-based modeling skills, including analyzing large data sets to drive decisions; experience modeling subscription or recurring-revenue businesses is a plus
Strong verbal and written communication skills (including PowerPoint) and ability to simplify complex topics for an executive audience
Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple stakeholders across the company
Highly organized with the ability to prioritize, manage timelines, and work under pressure
Self-motivated and comfortable working without extensive mentorship in a fast-changing environment
Passion for the media industry, international business, and content with a natural curiosity
Familiarity with global, large organizations is a plus
Demonstrated experience or knowledge of the EMEA region is a plus
The hiring range for this position in Santa Monica, CA is 142,300 to 195,500 per year. The base pay offered will consider internal equity and may vary based on geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
