#### Position# Lead CarpenterReports To:Millwork Department Lead and Vice President of Operations#### Position OverviewThe Lead Carpenter ensures Millwork department projects are built to spec, delivered on schedule, and held to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, a sharp eye for detail, and a deep understanding of both millwork and scenic construction—while upholding DFW’s Core Values, safety practices, and commitment to excellence. This position reports to the Millwork Department Lead and Vice President of Operations.#### responsibilities* Lead carpentry and scenic fabrication work within the Millwork department.* Understand and adhere to DFW’s quality management system* Assign daily tasks to carpenters and fabrication assistants.* Interpret shop drawings and construction details.* Oversee fabrication of scenic and millwork elements.* Inspect completed work for quality and accuracy.* Enforce safety standards and shop organization.* Uphold DFW’s Core Values and the Code of Conduct* Ensure builds meet drawings, design intent, and production schedules.* Coordinate labor and workflow with the Millwork Lead.* Other duties as assigned.#### Key Attributes**Detail Oriented** - Understands that details matter to the business and to our clients. Able to correctly identify important details in a drawing and understand how components fit in a larger whole**Team leader** - Able to give instructions and guidance to carpenters and shop hands in a thoughtful manner. Able to run small teams to achieve departmental objectives.**Problem Solver** - Able to independently troubleshoot problems that may arise during production, develop solutions, and recommend those solutions to the Project Lead or Department Lead.#### Requirements**Education:** High School diploma or Equivalent**Experience:** 10+ years of progressive work experience in some combination of the following trades: Cabinetmaking, Fine Furniture, Film Prop making, Theatrical Construction, Exhibit Fabrication, Art Fabrication and/or Art Handling.**Skills:** The Applicant must be well versed in the use of the following tools and techniques* Table Saws* Jointers/Planers* Mitre Saws* Layout and Marking* Reading and Interpreting Construction Drawings* Pneumatic Tools**Mobility Requirements:** This position requires extended periods of kneeling, crouching, climbing ladders, and the ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.**Travel:**This position is eligible for up to 25% travel but travel will not be regularly required.#### Compensation$28-$32/hour, based on experience. Additionally includes health insurance, retirement plan, and PTO annually.
