About the Role
As a member of the administration, the School Director shares the vision of collaborative leadership, creating an environment of stability and balance that allows the school to fulfill its mission and each member of the Faculty and school community to fulfill their duties. The School Director serves as part of the Administrative Council, the school’s primary leadership team. The Administrative Council is responsible for oversight and support for daily operations, including school programs, personnel, facilities, and resources, while effectively advancing strategic goals for school improvement. The School Director also works closely with the Pedagogical Council and its chair, and the Faculty, and Pedagogical Mentor, helping to oversee and coordinate all activities related to the pedagogical mission of the school. The focus in support of the Faculty and programs is to ensure that the pedagogical principles of Waldorf education are being faithfully upheld and that the mission of the school is being fulfilled.
Delegation, Accountability and Review
The Board of Trustees hires the School Director with recommendations from the Faculty, Business Administrator and Community Development Administrator. The School Director is accountable to the Board of Trustees.
Qualifications Professional Experience and Qualifications
The candidate brings the following experience and qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS or equivalent).
Experience in Waldorf education and pedagogy.
Minimum of five years’ experience in school administration and collaborative leadership.
Demonstrated success leading through transition and change, with the ability to build consensus and make difficult decisions.
Strong skills in strategic planning, financial sustainability, budget development, enrollment management, and facilities oversight.
Excellent organizational, analytic, and problem‑solving skills, including the ability to interpret and use data.
Mature written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in consensus‑based and collaborative governance structures.
We offer a strong benefits package, competitive salary, and remission. Compensation for the position of School Director is $103,000.
