Staff Civil Designer (Contract) – Atlanta, GA

📍 Locations: Atlanta, GA OR Charlotte, NC

Duration: 12-Month Contract

We are seeking a Staff Civil Designer to support a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects across utilities, land development, and infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams on complex, high-impact projects.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform civil design tasks across planning, proposals, site evaluations, design development, and construction documentation
  • Design civil projects including utilities and pipeline systems, site and land development, access roads, storm drainage and stormwater management, water and sanitary sewer systems, erosion and sediment control, and traffic control
  • Develop and produce design drawings, layouts, and calculations for non-routine and complex assignments
  • Review and analyze reports, maps, drawings, test data, and topographical/geotechnical information
  • Apply applicable design codes, standards, and specifications to all deliverables
  • Perform volume calculations for excavation, dredging, and site grading
  • Review drawings for quality, accuracy, schedule, and budget compliance
  • Maintain organized project files, plot files, and drawing revisions
  • Collaborate closely with project teams to resolve design issues and meet project goals

What We’re Looking For

  • One of the following is required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Drafting Technology or related field + 7+ years of related experience
  • Associate degree + 8+ years of related experience
  • High school diploma + 9+ years of progressive detailing and civil design experience
  • Expert proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Excel
  • MicroStation experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of civil design principles, calculations, and design systems
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline, multi-office team environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
