## Early Childhood Education Director## ***Current Employees: If you are currently employed at any of the Universities of Wisconsin, log in to Workday to apply through the internal application process.***## **Position Title:**Early Childhood Education Director## **Job Category:**Limited## **Employment Type:**Regular## **Job Profile:**Early Child Edu Dir## **Job Duties:**Reporting to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life, the Director of the Children’s Learning Center (CLC) is responsible for providing strategic direction and oversight of the Children’s Learning Center with a focus on policy, education and program direction. The Director works with other departments, schools/colleges, outside agencies, professional organizations and individuals to meet the goals of UWM and the Children’s Learning Center for research, teaching and community service. The Director has full accountability for the Children’s Learning Center budget, including generation of user fees, segregated fees and other funding sources as needed. The Center’s operating hours are 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM, and availability outside of normal operating hours is required.A complete job description can be furnished upon request.## **Key Job Responsibilities:*** Develops operating policies and procedures to comply with regulations, institutional policies, and unit objectives* Directs strategic planning initiatives and establishes unit objectives to ensure appropriate use of financial, administrative, staffing resources, and alignment with the strategic plan* Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees* Serves as the key leadership contact for internal and external stakeholders and promotes effective communication in a professional work environment* Develops and audits the unit budget## **Department: Children's Learning Center**## **Compensation: $110,000-$120,000**## **Required Qualifications:**1) Bachelor’s or higher in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Elementary Education, or related field2) At least six (6) years in an early childhood setting, with both teaching and administrative responsibilities.3) Must meet the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families licensing requirements for Program Director or Site Supervisor## **Preferred Qualifications:**1) Master’s in Education, Business or Administrative Leadership, or a related field2) Evidence of experience with childcare accreditation and licensing standards and processes.3) Three (3) or more years of experience in a childcare setting serving children under the age of four (4).4) Evidence of experience to articulate child learning & development; curriculum & instructional methods; child observation & assessment; child guidance; and classroom management.5) Evidence of experience with budget, data, and business management6) Evidence of experience in campus-based childcare**How to Apply:**Interested applicants are required to apply online and submit a resume and cover letter that addresses how their experience meets the qualifications of the position. **PLEASE NOTE:** resumes and cover letters will need to be uploaded to the same area in the application.In instances where the Search and Screen is unable to ascertain from the candidates' application materials whether they meet any of the qualifications, they may be evaluated as not meeting such qualifications.Finalist candidate(s) being considered for hire will be required to provide three professional/supervisor references through an external reference checking tool.
