
Job Description: The Part-Time Major Gifts Officer is primarily focused on fundraising in the Thousand Oaks and surrounding areas. The position plays a key role in supporting Villa Esperanza’s fundraising efforts by assisting in donor research, relationship-building, cultivation and securing donations. This position is ideal for a fundraising professional with strong communication and organizational skills, eager to grow within the field of philanthropy and major gifts development. Working closely with the VP of Philanthropy and Director of Philanthropy, the Officer will help manage donor portfolios, track engagement efforts, and assist in developing personalized stewardship strategies. This role requires a passion for fundraising, relationship management, and mission-driven work to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow all instructions from management and the Residential Administrator.
Manage a portfolio of donors. Develop and execute one-on-one donor meetings and stewardship touchpoints resulting in donations.
Actively network within the community and secure grant opportunities.
Maintain detailed donor profiles tracking engagement history, interests, and giving patterns in CRM system (DonorPerfect).
Ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts and implement personalized stewardship strategies.
Create personalized solicitation materials, proposals, and donor impact reports.
Collaborate with the team to increase family giving, monthly giving and planned giving within the region.
Work with marketing and communications teams to ensure consistent donor messaging and storytelling.
Develop regional content for local news, Villa newsletters, impact reports, and personalized donor updates.
Coordinate with event staff to ensure donors receive appropriate invitations and recognition at organizational events.
Represent the organization at networking events and community gatherings to build new donor relationships.
Attend and support all functions of the Philanthropy team.
Maintain strict confidentiality of donor and organizational information.
Pay Rate : $25.00 - $30.00/hour, DOE.
Schedule: Monday – Friday; part-time; 20 hours per week.

Qualifications and Requirements:
1-2 years of experience in fundraising, development, donor relations, or related fields.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor messages.
Experience with CRM software (e.g., DonorPerfect, Raiser’s Edge, or Salesforce) is a plus.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
A team player with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to donor stewardship.
Passion for nonprofit work and Villa Esperanza’s mission.
Analytical mindset with skills in data and reporting.
Proven ability to work collaboratively while also taking initiative in a strategic role.
Deep commitment to Villa’s mission and the individuals it serves.
Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to conduct instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
High level of integrity, diplomacy and initiative.
This position requires driving. Mileage reimbursement provided twice a month at the IRS approved rate.
