Leonard Buildings and Truck Accessories is a manufacturer and distributor established in 1963, offering product lines including storage buildings, cargo and utility trailers, truck covers, truck and van accessories, carports, playhouses, chicken coops, and dog houses. We serve residential, commercial, fleet, and government customers through 150+ retail store locations in eighteen states, supported by corporate offices in Mount Airy, NC, and Cobden, IL, distribution centers, and strategically located manufacturing facilities. The Carpenter, Small Structures is based at the Valdosta, GA manufacturing plant, with operations in the U.S. and has overall responsibility for constructing, assembling, and ensuring the quality of wooden structures through precise measurement, cutting, and assembly techniques, while adhering to safety and production standards and meeting customer specifications. This position reports directly to the Manager, Plant (or Supervisor, Plant) and does not have direct reports. Responsibilities
Assess the requirements and specifications for each chicken coop or doghouse project, including size, layout, ventilation, insulation, and access points. Determine appropriate materials (wood, hardware, roofing, insulation) based on project needs, durability, and animal comfort. Cut, shape, and assemble components of chicken coops or dog houses according to design plans, ensuring structural integrity, weatherproofing, and aesthetic appeal. Install chicken coops or dog houses securely in designated locations, ensuring stability, proper leveling, and functionality. Conduct thorough inspections of finished coop/house units to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards. Coordinate with team members, clients, and relevant stakeholders to meet specific needs and preferences in design and build. Perform routine maintenance and repairs to existing coops/houses to ensure continued functionality, safety, and longevity. Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean workspace. Assist in other duties within the carpentry manufacturing plant, including erecting/siding, electrical, flooring, framing, painting/trim, press/rafting, ramps/accessories, roofing, trusses, vinyl. Requirements
Competencies: Ability to pass drug screen; common knowledge of hand and power tools; effective communication; teamwork; ability to paint. Education/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Travel
