Responsibilities: Cost Estimation: Prepare precise and competitive cost estimates for wide format printing jobs, accounting for materials (like vinyl, fabric, paper), labor, machine time, and finishing processes (such as laminating, mounting, or cutting). Job Specification Analysis: Assess client requirements and specifications, including artwork files, to identify the most efficient and cost-effective production methods. Vendor Communication: Collaborate with material suppliers and external service providers to secure competitive pricing and advantageous delivery terms for essential components. Collaboration & Communication: Act as a liaison between sales teams, production departments, and clients to ensure clarity, manage expectations, and communicate layout specifications, material choices, and project timelines effectively. Pricing and Profitability: Analyze existing pricing for market competitiveness, track project profitability, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives and workflow enhancements. Software Proficiency: Utilize print estimating software and potentially design tools like Adobe Creative Suite, especially Illustrator, to enable accurate estimates and efficient production planning. Qualifications: 2+ years of proven estimating experience in wide format print. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of various printing technologies, materials, inks, and finishing techniques. Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach to reviewing job specifications and ensuring accuracy in all areas of estimation. Communication & Negotiation Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with clients, vendors, and teams, with the ability to negotiate effectively for favorable pricing and terms. Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Capable of identifying challenges, troubleshooting issues, and adapting to project demands or tight deadlines. Industry Experience: Typically requires 2+ years in a wide format printing setting, with a preference for signage and/or vehicle wrap production experience. Education: A high school diploma or GED is generally required; some companies prefer candidates with a degree in graphic design, print management, or a related field.
