Summary/Objective We are seeking a motivated and reliable Assistant Superintendent to join our growing commercial construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in ground-up, or large-scale commercial building projects. The Assistant Superintendent will work closely with the Project Superintendent and Project Manager to ensure the successful execution of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) construction activities. Key responsibilities include managing daily site operations, enforcing safety standards, maintaining project schedules, and supporting quality assurance efforts.

This role is ideal for candidates who are looking to advance their careers in construction management and gain valuable, hands-on experience on high-profile commercial projects.

Essential Functions

Supervises field foreman for MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing)

Oversee a specific trade on a larger project while working with the Superintendent and or Sr. Superintendent on the project.

Performs a wide range of skilled construction tasks.

Acts as liaison with engineering, estimating, and project teams, to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and scheduling is being met

Coordinates with other departments (i.e., Quality Control and Engineering) to ensure all required materials and equipment, inspections, and support craft activities

Provides guidance and direction to crews in budgeting and scheduling.

Resolves problems in a variety of construction issues, including productivity monitoring, craft compliance with project safety program requirements; documenting and implementing corrective action

Coordinate safety on site

Ensure foreman understand their trade specific schedules and goals by reviewing 2 week look-a-heads along with setting up weekly meetings with the foreman's to review as a whole.

Ensure foreman have material ordered & staged for crews

Track project progress

Strong relationship building skills with clients, customers, and vendors to cultivate a positive work environment

Use AXIOM to review Foreman's Daily logs and notes, helping eliminate the constraints.

Make sure the trades are tracking at estimate or better then estimate using AXIOM as their guide.

Performs other duties as assigned

Job Cost

Contract obligations, inclusions and exclusions.

Assist in projection of labor

Review job cost with trade specific foremen

Understand and review projection metric goals with Super and Foremen

Day to Day Activities

Drawing review

VDC reviews & coordination team meetings

Schedule reviews and confirm areas available for installation

Manpower management and projections

Ensure proper resources (tools, rental equipment, materials) are on the project when needed

Engage foreman teams with planning for efficiency

Create a positive work environment

Supervisory Responsibility: Yes

Required

7+ years previous experience as a General Foreman/General Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent and/or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience

Ability to successfully supervise large crew (10+)

Prior experience supervising large teams

Previous knowledge of man hour reports, job cost reports, workforce planning and estimating

Advanced understanding of construction cost control, forecasting and setting goals

Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines

Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients, and colleagues

OSHA 30 and CPR

Demonstrated knowledge of, reading, interpreting, and working to:

Design drawings (isometric and orthographic), design guides, specifications

Support Drawings and specifications

Contract documents and site coordination of subcontractors

Ability to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills

Must adhere to all company policy and procedures

Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

Work Environment

May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness

May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels

May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust

May be required to work in confined spaces or from lofty heights

Physical Demands

This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand, and power tools

While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for extended periods of time and lift to 50 lbs.

Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms

Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus

Travel

May require travel (typically not overnight)

Preferred

7 years' experience in a heavy mechanical construction environment as General Foreman/General Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent

Prior military experience

HS diploma or GED equivalent
