Overview Hybrid Schedule – 3 Days Onsite / 2 Days Remote Location: Quincy, MA

A well-established, mid-sized organization is seeking a

Benefits Program Specialist

to lead the hands-on administration of its employee benefits and leave programs. This is a

newly created role

reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources and will support approximately

280 employees . This position is ideal for a benefits professional with

5–7 years of experience

who is highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable owning programs end to end. Strong Excel skills and the ability to partner cross-functionally are critical for success.

Key Responsibilities

Benefits & Leave Administration

Administer comprehensive benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, wellness, voluntary benefits, and retirement plans

Lead the annual open enrollment process, partnering closely with benefits brokers and vendors

Manage leave administration (FMLA, ADA, parental, and state-specific leaves), including documentation and compliance

Handle pension plan administration, including monthly processing, vendor coordination, and required reporting

Oversee FSA administration and support annual Form 5500 filings

Process benefits-related accommodations paperwork

Partner closely with payroll to ensure accurate deductions, contributions, and data integrity

Compliance, Analytics & Reporting

Maintain plan documents, SPDs, and compliance records

Participate in benefits audits and ensure regulatory compliance (ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA)

Analyze benefits data, costs, trends, and participation to support program improvements

Develop reports and insights for HR leadership using strong Excel and analytical skills

Employee & Vendor Partnership

Serve as the escalation point for complex employee benefits and leave inquiries

Conduct new hire benefits orientations and ongoing employee education sessions

Build and maintain strong relationships with benefits vendors and external partners

Provide one-on-one guidance related to benefits and retirement/pension options

Qualifications Experience

5–7 years of progressive experience in benefits administration

Experience with retirement plans, including pensions, strongly preferred

Proven background in open enrollment, leave management, vendor oversight, and compliance

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field

CEBS or other relevant HR certification preferred

Skills

Strong working knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations

Advanced Excel and analytical capabilities

Experience with HRIS and benefits platforms (e.g., Workday, ADP, SAP)

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

High level of discretion, organization, and attention to detail

Compensation & Process

Base salary: $75,000–$85,000 (depending on experience)

Discretionary annual bonus
