Manufacturing is not “behind.” It is being failed by the tools it was given. Plants still run on paper, on brittle spreadsheets, on software that was never built for the chaos of real production. Steelhead exists to correct that failure. We build an ERP platform that gives manufacturers operational truth in real time—and the power to act on it.
We are not looking for a “salesperson.” We are looking for someone who wants to stand in the blast radius where software, capital, and physical work collide—and is willing to be accountable for what happens there. This role is not about polishing decks. It is about walking into chaotic factories, understanding how money is actually made and lost, and then driving the change that makes those plants radically more productive.
Why You Matter
If we succeed, hundreds of manufacturers will run with less waste, higher throughput, and better jobs on the shop floor. If we fail, they keep limping along on legacy systems and heroics. As an Account Executive, you sit at that fork. You decide which world they enter. You will build Steelhead’s business one customer at a time—from the first conversation to the signed agreement. That means you will be uncomfortable often. You will prospect when others are refreshing their inbox. You will ask impolite questions about how a plant actually works. You will insist on outcomes, not theatrics. Work here is intense. It is not balanced in the conventional sense. There will be late calls, factory visits in bad weather, and quarters where your number feels impossible. If you need a role that politely fits around everything else in your life, you will resent this job. If you want your work to be the sharp edge of your life for a while, keep reading. What You Will Do
Hunt.
You will build your own pipeline, find the plants that are ready to change, and get in the room with the people who can decide. Diagnose.
You will map how a manufacturer actually runs—materials, orders, constraints, cash—and expose where their current tools are lying to them. Orchestrate.
You will run discovery, demos, pilots, and business cases that tie our software directly to throughput, margin, and lead time. No fluff. Close.
You will manage complex stakeholders, push through institutional inertia, and bring deals to a clean, unambiguous “yes” or “no.” Own the outcome.
After signature, you will stay close enough to see whether what we promised becomes real, and you will insist that it does. How We Behave
Grit
– Difficult things are the only things worth doing. We do not outsource the hard parts of the work. Integrity
– We do not sell illusions. If Steelhead is not the right answer for a plant, you will say so. Realizing potential
– For customers and for ourselves. We assume people can be better tomorrow than they are today—and we design for that. Customer obsession
– We care about the throughput of a line, the stress level of a plant manager, the cash in a business owner’s account. If those do not improve, nothing else matters. Relentless curiosity
– We go to first principles. “That’s how it’s always been done” is not an argument; it is an indictment. Who You Are
You have spent at least three years in high-intensity, quota-carrying sales and have the numbers to prove you can win. You can point to concrete results: quotas beaten, customers transformed, people who will vouch for you without hesitation. You are fluent in numbers and narratives—you can read a basic set of financials, understand an operation, and tell a story that makes both unavoidable. You write and speak clearly. You ask direct questions. You do not hide behind jargon. You move fast and do not need a large bureaucracy to succeed. Startup chaos does not scare you; it energizes you. You are willing—and ideally eager—to build your life around being in the right place for this work. Relocating to Minnesota is preferred. What We Offer
On-target earnings: $165,000 USD. $90,000 base with $75,000 USD variable. Uncapped upside: top performers earn $200,000–$300,000 USD; there is no ceiling other than your capacity to build real businesses. The opportunity to shape how modern manufacturing actually works, not just how it is talked about in slide decks. If you want comfort, there are easier jobs. If you want to change how physical things get made in the real world—and are willing to be measured by whether you actually do—then step forward. This position is responsible for adherence to all security and privacy requirements, rules and regulations and implement as required. This position requires activities that are subject to compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and US Export Control Laws. Because of this, the position requires employed individuals to be U.S. persons.
