Job Description Summary The Director contributes to the strategic development and professional enrichment of employed and/or leased Advanced Practice Professional staff within the division of Patient Care Services at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Incorporates an Advanced Practice Professional model that achieves clinical excellence, contributes to the educational and academic recognition of Advanced Practice Professionals, fosters research, and promotes evidence-based practice. Collaborates with all members of the patient care team to assure the provision of high-quality patient care using the family-centered care model. Essential Functions: Directly oversees Advanced Practice Professional staff including but not limited to APRNs and Physician Assistants. Contributes to the planning, development, and implementation of the hospital’s division’s strategic plans. Actively engages in behaviors supporting the development of patient-focused service lines. Provides leadership for engaging with external contracts with other entities for APRN and PA staff. Provides leadership for hospital major projects – IT, construction, EPIC implementation, etc. Collaborates with hospital Medical Directors, Section and Division Chiefs, and Program Managers to set strategies for operations. Participates in the Office of the CNO, Division Management Committee. Involved in recruitment, credentialing, onboarding, and developing comprehensive competency-based orientation processes. Oversees evaluation, development, re-credentialing, and disciplinary actions as necessary. Develops annual operational and capital budgets with Division Leadership. Creates policies and procedures based on current research to ensure consistent care. Facilitates quality improvement initiatives to support patient care, satisfaction, and staff satisfaction. Engages with Quality Teams to meet national standards for outcomes and quality measures. Ensures staff utilize evidence-based practice through clinical inquiry. Develops operational plans to meet safety program aims and Magnet requirements. Fosters a culture of shared governance and employee satisfaction. Establishes mechanisms for staff enrichment and empowerment. Ensures compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. Participates in professional meetings, influencing and presenting evidence-based practices. Represents the division on the hospital’s leadership team and assumes on-call duties. Note: Regular, reliable attendance is essential. See physical requirements below. Education Requirement Master’s Degree in Nursing required; Doctor of Nursing or PhD preferred. Licensure Requirement RN and APRN licensure in Ohio. Skills Effective interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills. Ability to promote collaboration and act as a facilitator and change agent. Team building and cross-functional collaboration skills. Experience Five to seven years in healthcare management, preferably with background in advanced practice nursing and pediatrics. Physical Requirements Various physical activities including bending, lifting, exposure to hazards, and continuous hand/arm usage. See detailed list above.
