MSIG USA continues to grow! As an Underwriter at MSIG USA, you will play a key role in supporting the growth and profitability of our Trade Credit & Political Risk portfolio. This underwriting position focuses on evaluating and servicing a range of risks and exposures while developing strong broker relationships and contributing to customized insurance solutions. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure underwriting excellence and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and underwrite marine risks within assigned authority, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and risk appetite

Analyze submissions, financials, and loss histories to assess risk quality and pricing adequacy

Apply appropriate rating methodologies and ensure compliance with regulatory filings and state requirements

Draft and review policy forms, endorsements, and coverage terms tailored to client needs

Maintain accurate and complete underwriting documentation in accordance with internal and external standards

Monitor portfolio performance, including premium trends, loss ratios, and underwriting results

Collaborate with brokers through meetings and account reviews to strengthen relationships and identify growth opportunities

Partner with Risk Engineering, Claims, and Marketing teams to support retention and new business initiatives

Contribute to special projects and team initiatives as assigned

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred

3-4 years of insurance industry experience preferred

Prior experience as an Underwriting Assistant or Associate is a plus

Basic understanding of marine insurance principles, policy forms, rating manuals, and regulatory frameworks a plus

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Effective interpersonal and negotiation abilities

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn internal systems

Commitment to ongoing professional development and insurance education (e.g., AMIM, CPCU)
