Position HDR is currently seeking a Mechanical EIT/Coordinator for our Building Engineering Services Business Group located in downtown Chicago, IL. Our team is an integrated facility and infrastructure design team consisting of core services of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Structural and Site Civil Engineering. With a team of experienced Mission Critical engineers, our local team also focuses on Healthcare, Science and Technology, Justice, Power Distribution, and Transportation projects. We are also developing our market presence in the Commercial Real Estate, Finance, Hospitality, Municipal, Manufacturing/Industrial, and Federal sectors. Regardless of the market sector we provide engineering excellence for our clients by setting realistic expectations and delivering high quality designs, on time.

To help support our rapidly growing Mechanical needs in the Data Center market, HDR is seeking a talented Coordinator/EIT who has experience working hard to meet aggressive deadlines. The Data Center market has extremely aggressive design schedules, often with late changes, and the substantial mechanical cooling, HVAC and coordination needs are significant for everyone working on these projects. This position offers immensely valuable experience, working on cutting edge technologies with a variety of exposure to different trades, systems, and stakeholders. This candidate will also help develop our mechanical bench with staff that are in the early part of their career by receiving regular coaching and mentoring to grow their design capabilities and expertise.

Responsibilities

Conduct analyses to develop mechanical design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications

Perform routine engineering assignments, with instruction from the Project Engineer or Project Manager regarding the expected results

Work on projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables

Work on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects

Work with assistance from Project Engineers, other Mechanical EITs or Technicians as needed

Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis

Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate

Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.

Healthcare, Science and Technology and/or Civic facilities experience

Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required

Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm

Experience designing HVAC systems for building projects

Proficiency in Revit

Required Qualifications

Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering

Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) Chicago: $75,829.00 - $110,308.00
