CD&A - Forecasting Senior Manager, Global Biosimilars and Rare Disease

The Forecasting team at Amgen plays a pivotal role as a strategic partner to Commercial leadership, offering data-backed insights crucial for driving commercial success. As a Senior Manager of Global Forecasting, you will contribute significantly to the Global Biosimilars and Rare Disease businesses, executing and managing discussions with brand leads.

The individual in this role will need to thoughtfully influence and challenge a diverse set of stakeholders from Commercial, R&D, Medical, Finance, Manufacturing, Access, and Pricing/Contracting, while proficiently understanding the nuances of the particular disease area of interest and the market.

This role reports to the Director of Forecasting, Global Biosimilars and Rare Disease and operates within the broader framework of Customer Data & Analytics (CD&A). The position will be responsible for the following:

Primary point of contact for Brand Lead and senior Therapeutic Area leaders

Facilitate consensus-building among stakeholders to establish clear, transparent, and rigorous WW sales expectations for the pipeline assets by gaining alignment and endorsement for forecast assumptions

Help leadership identify actionable strategies to improve commercial potential by identifying and prioritizing relevant risks & opportunities

Provide recommendations on whether to proceed with product development or discontinue certain projects based on market conditions, financial projections, and strategic goals

Analyze competitors and market dynamics to inform forecasting models and strategic decisions

Develop an objective point of view of brand strategy by integrating insights across multiple functions and capability areas

Leverage communication and interpersonal skills to influence leadership on recommended course of action

Quantify uncertainty through the use of scenario planning and advanced simulation models (e.g. Monte Carlo analysis, statistical trending)

Create and deliver effective presentations that are transparent and articulate all key variables in the forecast, ensuring clarity and comprehensive understanding for stakeholders involved in decision-making processes

Collaborate with the broader CD&A organization to integrate comprehensive insights and analytics knowledge into the development and refinement of forecasts to enhance depth and accuracy

Drive productivity and efficiency, streamlining forecasting processes where possible

Flexible commuter role to the Deerfield, IL or Thousand Oaks, CA office. This role will require someone to be in the office Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

OR

Master’s degree and 4 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Pharma/Biotech forecasting, demand planning, or supply chain management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to quickly establish credibility with and influence ED/VP level staff

6+ years of forecasting, market research, or business analytics experience in the biopharmaceutical or healthcare industries

Oral, written, and presentation skills to explain complex concepts to a variety of audiences, including senior management

Strong project management skills—able to organize and complete multiple projects efficiently and on time

Demonstrated analytical skills combined with a client service orientation

Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment

Demonstrated ability to think strategically to support key business decisions

Understanding of the latest developments in the biopharmaceutical industry and unmet medical needs and opportunities across therapeutic areas

Experience with advanced spreadsheets, patient-based forecast modeling including dynamic patient flow models

Experience with quantitative techniques including smoothing, regression, time series analysis, and simulation

Working knowledge of forecasting inputs and structure, global access and reimbursement policies, competitive environment and potential impact on product development and commercialization strategy

Broad knowledge of biopharmaceutical industry databases such as IQVIA, Symphony Health, Flatiron, EMR, Optum, Truven, McKesson, DRG and other large datasets for custom analysis
