Role Overview
We are seeking a highly technical, data-driven operator to own the SEO, web performance, product data integrity, and security posture of our e-commerce sites. This contract role ensures our Shopify storefronts are findable, fast, secure, and optimized for both users and agentic/AI search, while supporting the broader E-Commerce + Web Development teams with technical infrastructure and insight. This person is responsible for maintaining site health, SEO performance, structured product data, analytics accuracy, cyber hygiene, and ongoing web updates across platforms. They will collaborate with E-Commerce + Web Development teams to support cross-channel initiatives. This contract position requires onsite availability Monday through Friday, 9am to 5:30pm. Job Responsibilities
Own technical SEO including site audits, crawlability, indexing, metadata, schema, and internal linking. Improve site performance across core web vitals, site speed, image optimization, and theme efficiency. Manage SEMRush tooling including site audits, position tracking, backlink audits, and competitive gap analysis. Conduct keyword research and map terms to PDPs, collections, landing pages, and evergreen content in partnership with the Growth Marketing Associate. Support E-Commerce team with SEO briefs, semantic structures, and keyword guidelines. Maintain site architecture including sitemaps, redirects, canonicalization, and link health. Monitor search console and resolve issues related to crawling, indexing, errors, coverage, and enhancements. Partner with Web Development team to QA landing pages, seasonal content, and promotional placements in Shopify. Troubleshoot bugs across UI, cart, checkout, tracking scripts, pixels, and app integrations. Maintain analytics and tracking including GA4, pixels, events, UTM governance, and attribution hygiene. Maintain structured data standards for product, breadcrumb, FAQ, and article schema. Ensure accurate product data including attributes, materials, metadata, FAQs, and metafields for PDP performance. Optimize product data for AI and agentic chat including structured attributes, taxonomy consistency, and semantic labeling. Diagnose and resolve bugs, crawl errors, broken links, redirect chains, 404s. Support A/B testing, heatmaps, and funnel diagnostics with clean technical implementation. Implement cybersecurity hygiene including access controls, 2FA, app permissions, SSL, and malware scanning. Monitor for spam backlinks, link hijacking, script injections, and other threat patterns. Manage third-party app permissions, theme updates, and platform configuration with security awareness. Coordinate with E-Commerce team to support campaigns, launches, and seasonal priorities. Produce reporting and insights on organic traffic, rankings, site health, performance trends, and product data integrity. Desired Skills & Experience
3-7+ years in technical SEO + Web Operations for DTC or E-Commerce brands Proven track record improving organic performance on Shopify Demonstrated experience managing SEMRush, Screaming Frog, GA4, pixels + web tracking Expert knowledge in Shopify Experience structuring product data for AI search + agentic chat Ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical teammates Comfortable building roadmaps + reporting KPIs to leadership The approximate pay range for this contract position is $20.00 to $24.00 hourly.
