About Ultra Maritime
Ultra Maritime is a global leader in mission-critical undersea warfare solutions. We provide the world’s most advanced navies with the "decisive edge" through high-tech sensors, sonar, and expendables. Our Airborne ASW (A2) business is the primary provider of sonobuoys (Q53, Q62, Q101, Q125) that enable Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) capabilities for the U.S. Navy and allied nations worldwide.
Job Description
The Role
We are seeking a high-caliber
Business & Strategy Analyst
to join our Programs team. This is a "dual-threat" role that bridges the gap between high-level Program Management and strategic Business Development, supporting the "full desk" of our sonobuoy business—from securing multi-year contracts with the U.S. Government to expanding our footprint with international allies. You will work very closely with the Senior Director of International Sonobuoy Programs and the Senior Director of Business Development day-to-day. You will act as the analytical "engine room" for our sonobuoy proposal generation, bridging the gap between high-level strategy and tactical execution. This is not a 9-to-5 administrative role; it is a fast-paced, commercially focused position for someone who wants to understand how a Tier 1 defense business operates—from initial market analysis to the final execution of multimillion-dollar contracts. Key Responsibilities Dual-Track Proposal Development:
Lead and coordinate the preparation of complex proposals for two distinct channels: USG/DoD:
Supporting major U.S. Navy procurement cycles.
International:
Tailoring commercial proposals for allied navies and defense forces.
Strategic Pricing & Modeling:
Develop and maintain sophisticated pricing models for our core product line of sonobuoys. You will prepare pricing by balancing prior purchase history, competitive landscape, customer nuances, and internal targets.
Proposal Development:
Take the lead in drafting and coordinating complex international proposals. You will ensure our technical superiority is matched by a compelling commercial narrative.
Executive Storytelling:
Create high-impact, executive-level presentations (PowerPoint) for internal approvals and customer-facing meetings. You must be able to distill complex data into a clear "so what" for senior leadership.
Market & Budget Intelligence:
Conduct deep-dive analysis on the global sonobuoy market, including tracking U.S. Navy budget cycles (PB/POM). Identify emerging trends in ASW, track competitor moves, and map out "blue ocean" opportunities for US-spec technology.
Program & BD Support:
Assist in customer strategy sessions, pricing negotiations, and project management to ensure international contracts are fulfilled on time and within budget.
Who You Are The Experience:
You have 2–4 years of professional experience. Ideally, you’ve spent time in a top-tier professional services firm (where you learned to "deck" and "model" at speed) or in a high-intensity finance/corporate development role.
The Mindset:
You are commercially savvy and "trainable." You don’t need to be an ASW expert today, but you must be hungry to learn the technology and the intricacies of defense trade.
The Commitment:
You thrive in a high-stakes environment. You understand that proposal deadlines—especially for USG contracts—are immovable and require extra effort to cross the finish line.
The Toolkit:
You are an Excel power-user and a PowerPoint artist. You can build a financial model that doesn’t break and a slide deck that tells a story without words.
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related business field.
Proven track record of managing multiple workstreams under tight deadlines.
Strong communication skills; comfortable presenting to or interacting with senior-level stakeholders.
Ability to obtain/maintain a US Security Clearance (Required for handling US-spec technology data).
Nice to have: Understanding of USG procurement regulations (FAR/DFARS) or ability to quickly learn.
Why Join Us? This role offers a unique "front-row seat" to the defense industry. Unlike traditional analyst roles that are siloed, you will have visibility into the entire business lifecycle: strategy, pricing, manufacturing, and international relations. You will work directly with leadership to safeguard the seas and support the mission of our global allies.
