Overview The Content Optimization Specialist is responsible for improving website content performance through search engine optimization (SEO), Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), content design and structure, layout optimization, and conversion-focused messaging. This role ensures that website content is discoverable across traditional search engines and AI-driven discovery platforms, while remaining clear, well-organized, and aligned with user goals and business objectives such as registrations, inquiries, downloads, and membership engagement.

Responsibilities And Duties

Apply on-page SEO best practices.

Optimize content for traditional search engines and AI-driven platforms.

Structure content to support conversion goals.

Conduct routine content audits.

Monitor and improve Core Web Vitals, page speed, and mobile experience.

Track search landscape changes.

Maintain SEO/AEO/GEO standards across all content updates.

Execute and coordinate content updates across websites.

Manage incoming internal content requests.

Ensure editorial consistency, tone, clarity, and messaging alignment.

Perform quality assurance checks.

Provide guidance on content hierarchy and page structure.

Recommend improvements to content modules and page layouts.

Collaborate with web and development colleagues.

Monitor and report on performance indicators.

Use performance insights to recommend future optimization opportunities.

Analyze website analytics and search performance data to measure progress against key performance indicators (KPIs).

Required Experience, Skills, And Education

Associate’s degree in web design, marketing, or related field, or relevant combination of education and experience.

4-6 years of experience in web design, engineering, or related fields.

2+ years of experience in SEO, content optimization, or digital content strategy roles.

Demonstrated experience applying on-page SEO best practices to improve website performance.

Strong understanding of how content structure and messaging impact search visibility and user conversion.

Excellent writing and editing skills with strong attention to clarity, tone, and accuracy.

Ability to manage multiple content requests and deadlines simultaneously.

Experience working within CMS environments to update and manage website content.

Ability to collaborate effectively with marketing, product, and technical teams.

Proficiency in analytics and SEO tools (such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Semrush, or Ahrefs).

Ability to interpret performance data and translate findings into actionable content recommendations.

Familiarity with AI-driven search platforms and how content optimization strategies are evolving to address them.

Familiarity with structured data markup (Schema.org) and its role in enabling rich search results.

Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals.

Desired Experience, Skills, And Education

Bachelor's degree in web design, marketing, or related field, or relevant combination of education and experience.

Experience optimizing websites for professional associations, events, or membership organizations.

Familiarity with accessibility and readability best practices for web content.

Experience supporting conversion-focused landing pages or campaign content.

Exposure to UX writing or content strategy practices.

Experience working with distributed or international stakeholder teams.

Familiarity with marketing automation or CRM-connected website workflows.

Experience using front-end templating languages and frameworks such as Vue, Blade, Twig, or Antlers, and utility-first CSS frameworks like Tailwind, enabling direct implementation of structured data, metadata, and content optimizations within page templates.

Travel Requirements This role will not require regular travel. Maximum travel will be less than 5%.

Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Compensation And Benefits

Compensation is commensurate with skills, education, and experience starting at $64,000/year.
