Office hours are Monday-Friday 7:30am-5pm. Shifts fall within those hours and may require occasional earlier/later work.

Essential Functions
Facilitate patient flow
Assist the doctor in preliminary testing
Verify medical and vision insurances
Effectively communicate with patients, doctors, and managers
Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in-person requests
Summary An Ophthalmic Technician is a valuable asset to an Ophthalmologist as they assist in providing excellent patient care during visits. This role handles a range of duties while using equipment to perform initial testing to prepare a patient for an exam with an Ophthalmologist.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service during every patient encounter (in person or via phone)
Greet patients promptly and professionally; thank them when they leave
Practice urgency with patient and doctor time and schedule
Comply with all company policies and HIPAA
Verify patient information by interviewing the patient
Record medical history, current medications and purpose of visit
Record data in the patient EMR
Check condition of patients eyes by observing pupils, muscles, visual acuity, and extraocular movements
Required skills include dilation, refraction, pressures, and various diagnostic tests (e.g., visual fields, OCT, GDX, IOL master, autorefractor, topography)
Demonstrate working knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms and ocular medications
Assist with general office duties as assigned
Qualifications
Desire to gain industry knowledge and training
Demonstrates initiative in accomplishing practice goals
Ability to grow, adapt, and accept change
Team-oriented and patient-focused; positive work environment
Ability to interact with all levels of employees professionally
Commitment to work over 40 hours to meet business needs
Reliable transportation to go to multiple locations with minimal notice
Education And/Or Experience
Minimum Required: High school diploma or GED
Minimum Required: One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Licenses And Credentials
Current COA or COT certification is preferred, but not required
Systems And Technology
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Physical Requirements
Frequent walking (75%), sitting (50%), and standing (50%); bending, stooping, reaching (25-50%)
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25 lbs
Fine motor skills and full use of hands; constant grasping, writing/typing, and use of technology
Visual and auditory acuity, including color, depth, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment
Occasional driving or climbing may be necessary
