Old Trail Golf Club is a private owned, public golf club located in Crozet, Virginia and features an 18-hole championship golf course, practice facilities and a full-service Clubhouse. Nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains and just a few miles west of Charlottesville, Old Trail Golf Club is the centerpiece of the spectacular Old Trail Village community. We are located 15 minutes outside of Charlottesville, VA and within walking distance of downtown Crozet.
Old Trail Golf Club is looking for a passionate and hardworking Head Golf Professional to lead the Golf Member and Daily fee operations while working closely with the Membership/Recreation Director on tournaments and house events. The Head Golf Professional will be responsible for all aspects of daily golf business that includes overseeing the golf staff, golf instruction, retail operations, and joining the events and tournament team and building outstanding member relations. The Head Golf Professional ensures the golf program runs smoothly and provides exceptional service to club members, guests, and staff. Old Trail Golf Club owns and operates a Golf Simulator in our Swing Lab during off peak times throughout the year providing the membership with daytime/evening and inclement weather golf experiences for leisurely enjoyment or improving your game individually or with instruction. Old Trail Golf Club has a supportive and engaging membership, excellent practice range, and a superior quality golf course that has hosted many outside, internal, VSGA, and PGA Section events.
Experience Required
Class A PGA Certification is preferred
Maintain active classification in the PGA of America.
Head Golf Professional experience is preferred but will consider Assistant Golf Professionals with a minimum of 2 years of assistant experience at a high-volume 18-hole facility.
Positive and proactive supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills. Ability to support company decisions and to always communicate to team members from the company perspective.
Possess good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Thorough knowledge of ordering/purchasing, inventory control, budget management, and P&L accountability.
Ability to multi-task while remaining focused on the key objectives of the position.
Proficient in computer skills to include (but not limited to) Microsoft Office programs, Golf Genius, Club Prophet.
Must be comfortable and willing to "roll up sleeves" and lead by positive example.
Ability to work weekends and holidays, mornings, and evenings as business demands.
Essential Responsibilities
Must be proactive in developing innovative ideas to facilitate the continual delivery of exceptional quality products and profit contributions to the company.
Ensure excellent guest experience by being responsive, following up in a timely manner, and following through on commitments.
Use all golf shop-related systems efficiently.
Assist in the coordination of external outside golf events with the Recreation Director. Ensure the day of tournament execution of the event is efficient, professional and provides a great experience.
Ensure the golf cart fleet is well maintained and cleaned daily according to the clean standard.
Manage, maintain, and make recommendations for merchandise appropriate to the facility demographic.
Recruit, hire, and train Golf Shop, Player Assistant, and Guest Service team members in accordance with Old Trail operating procedures. Follow the prescribed orientation process to set each team member up for success.
Ensure a proper safe work environment and Old Trail guidelines and standard operating procedures.
Understand, foster, and formulate strategies for the growth and development of team members.
Lead by example; establish and embody the benchmark of performance to the department in the areas of motivation, sense of ownership, and dedication to product quality.
Hold all team members accountable for their areas of responsibility using Old Trail position descriptions and clearly articulated expectations.
Maintain open lines of communication between the golf shop staff, golf maintenance staff, and Recreation Director and work together to facilitate outings to ensure the highest level of guest experience.
Manage monthly expenses to the budget, minimizing expenses and overtime.
Conduct monthly Golf Shop merchandise inventory maintaining a variance of less than 1%.
Supervise and manage facility tee sheets to maximize play and make recommendations for additional revenue generation.
Other tasks as assigned.
