The Director of Operations for CAIA will oversee legal, financial, research compliance, philanthropy, and business development activities. Success depends on understanding Fred Hutch systems quickly and working effectively across administrative silos in a highly matrixed environment, gaining the trust of senior leaders, and enabling rapid decision-making to support a dynamic initiative. This position is pivotal in translating one of the most ambitious interdisciplinary initiatives in cancer research and AI into operational reality. Responsibilities
Financial and Revenue Management:
Collaborate with the Executive Chair to develop, implement, and evaluate the program’s annual operating and capital budgets. Monitor financial controls, analyze performance, report results, and propose solutions for variances. Business Operations:
Establish an effective operating rhythm for CAIA, aligning resources with organizational goals. Foster innovative practices and ensure efficient resource utilization. Reporting:
Manage and deliver executive-level reports, including monthly and quarterly updates. Develop metrics to improve performance and inform decision-making. Organizational Relationships:
Partner with departments and external providers (Legal, Philanthropy, Finance, etc.) to streamline processes, communications, and contracts. Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with the Executive Chair to create and monitor CAIA’s strategic and operational plans, ensuring alignment with Fred Hutch’s overall mission. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in a related field At least 10 years of experience managing budgets, personnel, or programs Experience in business operations within complex academic, medical, or research organizations The annual salary range for this position is $161,450 to $269,048, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
