Payments Specialist II

As a Payments Specialist II, you will ensure the timely and accurate posting, balancing, research, and reconciliation of daily ACH and Correspondent Bank files, all while maintaining strict service and compliance standards. In this role, you will process and approve both incoming and outgoing Domestic and International wire transactions, verifying OFAC compliance and data accuracy. You will also analyze returned items and mobile capture exceptions, making informed pay, pay and charge, or no-pay decisions to support the integrity of our payment operations. Why Join SCCU? Payments Specialist II Key Responsibilities: Reviews and balances daily files downloaded from the Correspondent Banks and the ACH files from Federal Reserve Bank through the third party ACH application within required service and compliance standards. Generates exception reports. Reviews and analyzes the daily Non Sufficient Funds (NSF) returns file for both share drafts and ACH transactions posted against member accounts in an NSF status (i.e., chargebacks). Determines pay, pay and charge or no-pay status of NSF items. Balances the returns file and transmits the returns file electronically within the regulatory deadlines. Processes debits to members accounts for returned deposit items and mobile capture exceptions within department service standards and regulatory deadlines. Prepares and mails notifications to members including an explanation for the action taken, the return item, and a receipt showing the debit to the account. Forwards negative balance documentation to the Collections Department. Responsible for accurate description and resolution (clearing) of outstanding transactions. Responds to all external financial institution requests related to adjustments and/or source of receipts for member transactions. Coordinates with IT to ensure that share draft image files are uploaded to on-line banking in a timely basis. Creates general ledger journal entries for adjustments as needed in the daily balancing process. Sets up, services and balances member payrolls. Posts member's payroll deductions as received through the third party ACH application. Updates member payroll deduction allocations as requested on a timely basis. Using standardized templates, prepares communications to members and/or merchants regarding results of research, resolution of issues and/or apology to merchants/members for returns caused by SCCU errors or omissions. Assists in the modification/creation of standardized templates to reply to various issues. Remains current in all aspects of ACH NACHA operating rules, Government payment process (Federal Green Book). Reg CC, Reg D, Reg E, Bank Secrecy Act, Money Laundering and OFAC compliance. Additional training and certifications will be completed as required. Payments Specialist II Requirements: High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience. 3 to 5 years prior experience with a financial institution with specific experience in ACH, Item Processing, and/or Wire Transfer preferred. Payments Specialist II Compensation: Starting Salary: $20.18-$21.38 Bonus Opportunity: Eligible for ONE SCCU Annual Bonus. Work Schedule: Hybrid and Flexible Schedule Options: This position is hybrid with two days per week required in office. Monday
