Job Description Summary The Emergency Communications Specialist (911 Dispatch) is a highly skilled public safety professional who serves as the vital link between citizens and first responders. 3. 4-Hour Observation in the Communications Center

Job Description

Emergency Communications - 95% Promptly answer incoming emergency and non-emergency phone calls. Quickly assess the situation being reported and determine the correct course of action. Efficiently generate accurate calls for service or update existing calls by entering incident details into the computer aided dispatch system. Continually monitor and quickly respond to radio traffic. Accurately track unit activity and status. Ensure the timely and accurate dissemination of information. Monitor a variety of public safety communications systems to support the delivery of public safety services. Quickly and accurately execute requests from field units. Remain calm and composed at all times. Provide exceptional customer service. Engage in ongoing continuing education. Maintain availability to work all shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays) with hours and days off subject to change, sometimes on short notice. Maintain availability to work overtime shifts as needed. Maintain consistent and reliable attendance during scheduled work hours including assigned overtime shifts. Maintain on-call availability and the ability to report within 2 hours of being called in during scheduled on-call hours. Other Duties as Assigned - 5%

Required Education

High School Diploma/GED Experience Qualifications

2 years Experience in a customer service focused role Preferred Experience

Previous experience working in a public safety emergency communications center Skills and Abilities

Be at least 21 years of age. Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm. Must pass a background check prior to employment start date. Candidate must pass criminal background check prior to employment start date. Licenses and Certifications

DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Maintain a valid license for the duration of employment Upon Hire Required CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation within 60 Days Required Must pass a substance use screening prior to employment start date. Required Must be able to obtain Colorado Crime Information Center (CCIC)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC) certification and maintain certification for the duration of employment Upon Hire Required Must be able to obtain Internal Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) Emergency Medical Dispatching (EMD) certification within six months of employment and maintain certification for the duration of employment Upon Hire Required CCIC/NCIC Certification Preferred IAED EMD Certification Preferred American Heart Association CPR Certification Preferred Pre-employment substance screening is required for this position. This position is subject to a pre-employment drug screening. Employment is contingent upon successfully passing the screening in accordance with Weld County policy.

This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore eligible for overtime pay.
