Our physicians are nationally known, and we continue to be on the leading edge of retina care by utilizing the latest equipment and both participating in and designing new clinical trials to advance the state of care for retinal diseases. We seek a full-time Ophthalmic Technician Level 3 or 4 (Rooming Tech) to support our team. Although you must be able to work independently, you will be working directly with physicians, patients, and clinical and business office staff. Collaboration and being a team player are essential to the success of this role. This position will require travel to other locations as needed.

Responsibilities: Duties (not limited to): All the duties of Work Up Tech, plus the following: Clean room prior to bringing patient in. Guide patient to room and ensures patient comfort. Ensures rooms are sanitized before each patient all bottles are properly sealed or capped. Ensure that lids are on containers and caps are on bottles in exam rooms. Review chart to ensure accuracy and completeness. Call patient by first and last name and verifies patients DOB Greet patient warmly and introduces self and role to patient and family. Verifies patients eligibility for procedures and injections, ensures all consent forms are signed and up to date. Prepare patient and exam room for physician, setting out appropriate drugs, equipment and prepping the patient for procedures. Including, retro bulbar block, subconjunctival lido., and Kenalog injections. Ensure patient information corresponds correctly with EHR and imaging. Ensure all diagnostic testing was done according to physician orders and has them pulled up on axis. Ensure HPI is completed accurately and accepted. Ability to complete Fa/Photo and OCT interpretations ensuring correlation with appropriate diagnosis. Ability to ensure all documentation is accurate and complete prior to exam and treatment. Maintains all exam rooms by stocking supplies. Returning patient phone messages (may delegate to other technicians but is responsible for completion) within 24 hours. Answer tech calls and handle refill requests. Proficient in all duties of work-up. Maintain clinic flow and guides scribes and physicians. Complete surgery paperwork. Walk patient to check out. Properly assist physically or visually disabled patients into and out of the rooms. Adhere to regulations regarding drug samples and drug logs. Properly maintain germicide. Understanding of Scribe position and responsibilities. Assists scribes as needed. Strong proven patient service skills. Ability to maintain a HIPAA and OSHA compliant workstation Understands emergency protocols. Requirements

Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing Apply policies and principles to solve everyday problems Ability to plan, exercise initiative, problem solve, make decisions Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities Excellent organizational and time management skills Ability to work in an unsupervised environment, both as a team and as an individual Ability to maintain a courteous demeanor while maintaining required level of productivity Knowledge of insurances; HMO's, PPO's, Medicare, Medi-Cal Knowledge of how to operate standard office equipment Able to dilate, check vision, and enter appropriate chief complaint Understand what diagnoses are considered emergencies Ability to follow direction well, maintain professionalism and be punctual Ability to obtain readable OCT image from all OCT equipment Ability to accurately and completely document patient visit in EHR Enjoy working with patients, primarily elderly patients Patience and empathy Ability to work as a part of a team Ability to work under pressure in a high paced environment Ability to answer phones, schedule patients accurately, work tasks, work faxes (basic Front Desk duties) Strong knowledge of consent form requirements. Ability to monitor clinic flow and effectively redirect staff to maintain a smooth patient flow. This position requires a valid California driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and current auto insurance. Physical Requirements:
