Job Summary

As a part of the university's Student Affairs Division, the Director's responsibilities include providing vision, supervision, and assessment of all aspects of Career Services. The Director manages the department's daily operations, develops and implements career development and readiness programs, manages employer relationships, facilitates job search activities, and provides comprehensive career guidance and support to students throughout their academic journey. The position reports to the Vice President for Student Affairs. Essential Functions

Provides direction and vision for a comprehensive career development and career readiness program targeting all students. Solicits and utilizes feedback from employers, students, alumni, and faculty to inform the continuous improvement of career services. Collaborates with key external stakeholder groups to expand and maintain an employer recruitment network and to develop and sustain an extensive local, regional, and national list and database of internship and career opportunities. Ensures that the job, career, and internship/externship opportunities for graduate and undergraduate students listed in the database are current and represent all academic programs at OLLU. Surveys and assesses employer recruiting needs, quality of recruiting services provided, and other employer related data management to improve the recruiting program. Provides consultation for employers regarding on-campus branding of organizations. Coordinates communication with the academic department chairs and other faculty ensuring the Center for Career Development is meeting the needs of the academic colleges and departments. Develops and manages the department budget in support of University goals and objectives; supervises expenditures; seeks additional financial support for office programs. Engages in professional growth opportunities to remain current with trends, demands, and emerging careers in a rapidly changing workforce. Supervises and provides professional development to department staff. Serves on the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) implementation team and supervises department efforts. Assists with the implementation of student graduation initiatives, such as the first destination graduation survey and more. Collaborates with the Alumni and Family Relations Office to assist alumni in their job search, solicit and cultivate alumni employers, disseminate information to current student families, etc; serves as primary career advisor for alumni. Serves as the primary liaison for all university instructional sites (HOU, RGV, Online) to provide career development support. Develops and conducts effective and creative programs and presentations on career exploration and discernment, job search strategies, professional development, and graduate or professional school application processes. Oversees publicity efforts (website, social media, external communications, etc) for department services and programming. Monitors and maintains data on all department activities; uses data for department enhancements; provides reports to university stakeholders; develops and administers the department's annual assessment plan goals and analyzes results. Serves as the administrator for the department's job search software (Handshake). Produces reports to influence further use of software and university data sharing. Coordinates the PLA student advising and support, as appropriate for all academic areas. In the absence of career advisors, provides students with career advice and resources, including resume and cover letter review and critical feedback in preparation of employment and/or internship opportunities. Additional Responsibilities

Performs requirements of the position maintaining professional ethics stated by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Engages in educational interventions designed to increase persistence rates among OLLU students. Provides support at Lake Day Orientation, Camp Blue Nation, and other Student Affairs events. Participates in other university activities and programs as requested and assigned. Serves as an application reviewer for the Caritas Emergency Fund Program. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Vice President for Student Affairs and the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs. Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of career assessment instruments, such as FOCUS 2, MBTI, and Strong Inventory. Knowledge of various career search methods and Customer Relationship Management platforms, with the ability to learn and comprehensively utilize the Handshake platform. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; effective public relations and networking abilities. Strategic planning/visioning aptitude. Knowledge of career counseling techniques, job trends, and career development skills. Ability to effectively market the department and university to various constituencies. Understanding of the 60x30TX Higher Education Plan. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends as necessary. Education and Experience

Master's degree in student affairs, counseling, human resources, marketing, or related field is required. Five years of experience providing career services, human resources training, and/or employment counseling is required. Requires at least two years of the career services work experience must be in a university/college setting. Two years of supervisory experience required. Employer development relationship experience, preferably in San Antonio and surrounding areas. Possession of a valid U.S. driver's license and own mode of reliable transportation in order to conduct employer site visits. Additional Information
