Communications and Social Media Specialist

REPORTS TO
Associate Director, KMH Center
THE OPPORTUNITY
Student position. Will work with Associate Director on multiple projects in a fun and fast-paced environment, assisting with a variety of duties, including:
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Organize and manage pipeline of all social media posts for LinkedIN
Collaborate with other groups (on campus and off) to leverage followers to convert to KMH Center followers
Create social media posts using video, articles, photos, and links
Support and attend KMH Center events when needed; take photos to create posts
Create promotional materials for marketing, advancement, website; Create fliers for events using our templates in Canva.
Use Constant Contact to create monthly newsletters for Young Professionals Club (upcoming events and membership perks) and other programs
Create a pipeline of article ideas for the SUD Sprint and Global Surgery Slingshot programs. Highlight program alum successes.
Reach out to our stakeholders in a professional manner to request information for articles. Keep track of deadlines to provide a reminder;
Research key areas of interest for the KMH Center to build following based on our programs: global surgery, substance use disorders, educational sessions.
Assume additional responsibilities as required.
NOTE
Position is mostly virtual (except for in-person KMH events). Weekly virtual meeting with Associate Director and other student workers.
WHAT EDUCATION AND SKILLS YOU WILL NEED
Professional communications skills for composing emails and working with colleagues and clients
Ability to stay organized and focused on details and quality, in a fast-paced work environment
Ability to work as part of a team and individually, with the ability to take initiative and follow through on projects
Creative ability to make posts professional, fun, unique, and appealing
Creative ability to make marketing pieces look visually appealing a plus
Ability to embrace ideas and changes created by all community members.
Ability to work independently to solve problems; look for opportunities to take on responsibility; take thoughtful risks; and effectively act on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
Ability to anticipate and effectively handle change; demonstrate willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; flexible in changing conditions.
Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Drive/Docs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar).
