Job Description We are seeking an Electrical Designer to assist project teams in creating electrical power distribution and lighting design documents for healthcare, higher education, and commercial building type projects. The Electrical Designer will work with the project team throughout the design and construction process, coordinating electrical plans with budget constraints, other project discipline design factors and client requirements. Other responsibilities include keeping up with trends in engineering and attending professional development events. Ideal candidates will have attention to detail and a strong desire for organization. Opportunities to grow, update engineering standards and advance to project management.

Responsibilities

Technical design on assigned projects, including lighting calculations, voltage drop, short-circuit calculations and power/lighting layouts

Maintain best practice engineering methods

Production of design documents from concept through detailed design for new buildings, renovations, and additions to existing facilities

Apply project related data as requested by project manager

Construction administration, site visits and shop drawing review per project

Assist with production of project specifications

Updating/correcting drawings provided by quality assurance

Job Requirements Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Architectural or Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited program. Minimum of 1 year of experience in the Engineering field. Working experience with power distribution and lighting design. Related experience in the design of healthcare, higher education, or commercial building electrical systems. Knowledge of current building electrical and energy codes. Project management experience is a plus but not required; this role has the opportunity to advance to project management.

Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:

Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam required. Possession of a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and willingness to use insured personal vehicle in the course of employment.

Qualifications/Skills:

Candidate must be proficient Microsoft Office, AutoCAD & Revit. AGI32 experience preferred. Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e. without time limitations, without restrictions or without the need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be detail oriented and able to perform each essential duty effectively.
