Financial Management Consultant (Team Lead / Senior Consultant)

The opportunity US Federal Solutions is hiring a Financial Management Consultant to support U.S. Air Force financial operations and mission enablement. This role is a strong fit for someone who has a solid foundation in federal financial management and wants to take on more ownership as a consulting Team Lead or Senior Consultant. You will help Air Force stakeholders improve the accuracy, integrity, and usefulness of financial data while strengthening controls, supporting audit readiness, and modernizing processes and systems.
What you’ll do In this role, you will lead or support client workstreams that improve financial performance and operational outcomes, including:
Provide financial management consulting support across financial operations, reporting, and accounting functions
Support
audit readiness
efforts, including documentation, testing support, remediation planning, and audit liaison activities
Assist with resource management activities tied to mission operations, including cost, performance, and budget support
Help design and execute
internal control
assessments, risk identification, corrective action planning, and sustainment activities
Analyze data, identify root causes, and recommend process improvements to strengthen data integrity and reporting reliability
Support financial transformation initiatives, including adoption or optimization of financial and information systems and emerging technologies
Develop clear, client-ready deliverables (briefings, dashboards, decision support materials, SOPs, and process documentation)
Coordinate tasks, timelines, and stakeholder touchpoints for assigned workstreams; mentor junior team members as needed
What success looks like
Financial processes are more consistent, documented, and easier to execute across teams
Audit readiness artifacts and remediation efforts are organized, traceable, and on schedule
Leadership has clearer reporting and stronger confidence in the integrity of financial data
Internal controls are strengthened and risks are identified early with actionable mitigation steps
What we’re looking for Required qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
3–6 years of relevant experience in financial management, accounting, audit readiness, budget execution, internal controls, or related federal consulting work
Active Secret clearance
(must have)
Experience building client deliverables and communicating recommendations to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and manage priorities
Preferred qualifications
Experience supporting the Department of Defense and/or U.S. Air Force financial management or resource management organizations
Familiarity with audit readiness frameworks, corrective action plans, and internal controls assessment approaches
Experience supporting financial systems modernization or process improvement initiatives
Comfort working with large datasets and translating findings into practical recommendations
