In this role, you will leverage your sales, marketing, and analytical skills to underwrite new and renewal business specifically for Financial Lines Products such as Directors and Officers, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Crime Insurance for private and nonprofit organizations.
This is a market-facing position where your proactive approach will be essential in hunting for renewal and new account opportunities while identifying areas for growth. Building and maintaining strong relationships with retail distributors (agents and brokers) and clients is critical for ensuring business retention and driving new acquisitions.
Key Responsibilities
Administer and monitor underwriting guidelines, rating manual rules, and relevant insurance laws and regulations.
Collaborate with Line of Business representatives to support business needs effectively.
Develop strong relationships with distributors to ensure smooth business retention and acquisition.
Act as a resource for agents, brokers, and customers, contributing to a robust sales culture.
Proactively explore renewal and new account opportunities.
Conduct thorough assessments with key distributors to identify and pursue growth opportunities.
Qualify accounts in alignment with the organization’s appetite and business objectives.
Conduct planned and purposeful visits with brokers/customers.
Mentor and guide team members to foster a collaborative environment.
This position may be filled at either the Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter level, based on the applicant's experience and qualifications.
Basic Qualifications Underwriting Specialist
High School Diploma or Equivalent plus 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles.
Alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent with 6+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree plus 1+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree plus 4+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Strong knowledge of relevant lines of business and legal regulations.
Familiarity with time constraints related to quotes on new and renewal business.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
High School Diploma or Equivalent plus 5+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market Facing roles.
Alternatively, a high school diploma or equivalent with 10+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree plus 3+ years in Underwriting or Market Facing roles.
Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree plus 8+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support.
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Experience managing time-sensitive quotes for new and renewal business.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Bachelor's Degree.

The combined salary range for this position is $96,600.00 - $209,300.00, with specific ranges for Underwriting Specialist and Executive Underwriter roles.
