Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) is currently seeking a full-time Financial Management Specialist 000376571M to work in the Nuclear Networks Division, AFNWC/NCN at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA. This position is an NH-501-03 which has a typical 2025 salary range of $101-375 - $156,715 (Includes locality).

This is a Non‑Supervisory Financial Management Specialist who will perform a variety of services to include formulation, justification and execution of budgets in the Nuclear Networks Division at Hanscom, AFB, MA. The Nuclear C3 Division is responsible for oversight of a multi‑billion‑dollar portfolio. The portfolio currently has programs with a total procurement and sustainment acquisition value of $3.9 billion. This includes programs that modernize communications systems for connectivity between the President and strategic deterrent forces in stressed environments, as well as a modernization program supporting joint enterprise fixed satellite communications terminals.

MAJOR DUTIES

Evaluate program requirements, support multi‑year acquisition planning, and oversee contract administration.

Apply financial management principles to monitor, assess, and drive effective execution of acquisition programs.

Track program performance—including schedule, budget, and deliverables—to ensure alignment with mission objectives and execution plans.

Provide strategic planning guidance for acquisition related activities, including contracts, financial systems, and process improvements.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

SKILLS

Demonstrated experience in financial operations, accounting, and program support, with the ability to apply a range of established and emerging analytical methods and techniques.

Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a Financial Specialist, with a proven ability to deliver timely, professional support at the division level.

Strong oral and written communication skills, with a track record of proactive, independent work—conducting analysis, executing actions, developing solutions, and presenting well reasoned recommendations.

Ability to collect, organize, and analyze data to identify issues, assess potential impacts, prepare clear summary reports, and recommend effective courses of action.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

U.S. CITIZENSHIP

Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance and will be required to handle and safeguard personally identifiable information (PII) in accordance with regulations to reduce potential compromise.

This is a Financial Management Level 2 Certified position in accordance with the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Public Law 112‑81, Subtitle F‑Financial Management, Section 1599d. Incumbent shall comply with the requirements of this certification program within 24 months of assignment and engage in acquisition continuous learning activities achieving 60 Continuous Learning points every 24 months.

Employee may be required to travel occasionally away from the normal duty station in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments.

Work may occasionally require the employee to work outside the normal business hours, such as overtime or an irregular work shift.
