Overview Job Summary: Sets up and maintains the condition of the department according to company standards. Consistently provides friendly, courteous customer service to internal and external customers. Ensures product quality and selection, performs related work, and typically works 6‑8 hour shifts between 4:00 am and 11:00 pm.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities
Seek opportunities to welcome, engage, serve and thank customers; maintain an atmosphere of friendly, enthusiastic customer service with an emphasis on caring for the customer.
Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness and interactive engagement, promptly addressing and resolving customer concerns, expediting product returns or refunds, helping locate items, and providing assistance throughout the store.
Perform receiving duties, including verifying orders against invoices, reporting shortages and claims to ensure proper billing, breaking down loads, dating product, cutting cases, stacking, pricing, and marking merchandise, and maintaining the produce storage area.
Ensure proper merchandising for freshness and quality of goods through correct handling to minimize damage and spoilage, building produce displays, rotating stock, discarding outdated or spoiled product, ensuring accurate pricing and signage, and using related equipment such as box cutters, cardboard, trash compactors, hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts.
Maintain cleanliness and eye appeal of the work area, storage area, and selling floor.
Ensure a safe and secure work environment.
Perform duties with honesty and integrity.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Requirements
Perform basic math (add, subtract, divide, multiply) and compute weights and measures.
Ability To
Work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including night, weekends, and holidays.
Conduct visual inspection of product displays and read written material.
Communicate in writing to others.
Reach, lift, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights up to 50 lbs. frequently.
Push and pull fully loaded hand trucks and pallet jacks.
Stand for long periods, walk and move rapidly, bend, twist, and turn frequently.
Perform safe and quick movements and operate equipment such as hand trucks and pallet jacks with manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination.
Work with hands exposed to ice, moisture, fruits, and vegetables.
Learn proper handling, preparation, seasonality, perishability, product safety, sanitation procedures, and department policies.
Wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
Be 16 years of age or older.
Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.
Additional Requirements
Food Handlers Certification (per state laws).
Machines and Equipment Operated
Use tools and equipment such as knives, wrappers, scales, compactors, garbage disposals, hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts, and ladders.
