
Dauphinette is seeking an experienced Freelance Seamstress to support with sample development and private client orders. This role is as-needed, with more consistent availability required in the lead-up to September NYFW and key seasonal moments.
Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of professional garment-sewing experience
Strong knowledge of garment construction, including pattern reading, cutting, and alterations
Excellent hand-sewing skills
Proven experience working with delicate or challenging materials (silks, sheers, leather, vintage textiles, etc.)
Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment
Highly detail-oriented, organized, and punctual
Able to work efficiently and calmly under pressure
New York–based and able to commute to our Dumbo, Brooklyn studio
Available on a seasonal and as-needed basis (not a remote role)
Responsibilities
Fabric Preparation: Pressing, prepping, and cutting fabrics according to patterns and specifications
Garment Construction: Constructing garments using patterns, samples, and technical knowledge with precision and efficiency
Alterations: Performing alterations on existing garments, including hemming, seam adjustments, zipper and button replacements, and lining work for one-of-a-kind upcycled pieces
Repairs: Addressing minor damages and wear on vintage and Dauphinette brand items
Quality Control: Inspecting finished garments to ensure high standards of craftsmanship and finish
Project Management: Managing and prioritizing multiple projects while meeting deadlines
