Account Executive

to join our team at our corporate office in Westchester, IL with a focus on expanding our

Energy and Infrastructure

client base.

What Role Will You Play As an Account Executive, you’ll be a core part of our business development team, focused on growing new relationships and expanding existing accounts within the

Energy and Infrastructure

space. You’ll identify opportunities, open doors, and position Sterling as a long-term staffing partner for engineering and technical talent. This role reports to the Business Unit Manager and works closely with recruiting leadership to drive results.

Key responsibilities include:

Identify, initiate, and secure new business within Energy and Infrastructure markets

Build prospect lists, execute outreach strategies, and generate new accounts

Develop strong relationships with decision makers and hiring leaders

Learn and understand technical roles and workforce needs in regulated and project-driven environments

Use sales tools such as social media, internal databases, networking events, and cold calling

Conduct in-person and virtual business development meetings and presentations

Maintain persistence in prospecting and consistently hit performance goals

Negotiate staffing agreements and partnership programs

Manage accounts strategically through market insight, communication, and long-term planning

Partner with recruiting teams to screen and present qualified candidates

Present talent to hiring managers with clear summaries and recommendations

Stay organized while managing multiple priorities

Travel locally to meet with clients and leadership teams

Grow accounts organically through referrals and expansion opportunities

What We’re Looking For

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Competitive, driven mindset with a love for business development

Comfort learning technical and engineering concepts

Consistent follow-up and professionalism with clients and candidates

Honest, consultative closing and negotiation skills

Bachelor’s degree or comparable experience preferred

Experience selling into Energy, Infrastructure, utilities, construction engineering, or industrial markets is a big plus
