
Head Coach, Men's Ice Hockey
Brown University – Providence, Rhode Island – Ivy League – NCAA Division I
Overview The Head Coach leads the Men's Ice Hockey varsity program, fostering a positive, inclusive culture and achieving competitive success at the NCAA Division I level.
Responsibilities The Head Coach is responsible for:
Planning and leading practices and competitions.
Recruiting student‑athletes who meet Brown's academic and athletic standards.
Managing scheduling, travel, and program budget.
Monitoring academic progress and ensuring compliance with NCAA, Ivy League, ECAC, and University rules.
Engaging alumni, fundraising, and community outreach to support the program.
Representing the team publicly and upholding Brown and Ivy League values.
Demonstrating ethical conduct and adherence to all applicable regulations.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree required.
Five to seven years of collegiate coaching and recruiting experience required.
Job Competencies
Recruiting within NCAA and Ivy League rules.
Developing nationally competitive athletes.
Achieving academic success for previously coached student‑athletes.
Exemplary ethical conduct and compliance with NCAA regulations.
Commitment to student‑athlete development and motivation.
Willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
Strong organizational, written and oral communication, and computer skills.
Completion of background and DMV checks prior to employment.
Additional Requirements All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check and education verification. Coaching staff must receive annual NCAA recruitment rules education and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid certification.
