Miller Electric Manufacturing, a global leader in welding and power generation solutions and part of Illinois Tool Works (Fortune 200), is seeking a Market Segment Manager to lead growth strategy for its Work Truck Solutions business within the Power Systems Division.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role responsible for defining where the business should compete, how it wins, and which opportunities deserve investment. The role sits at the intersection of market insight, strategy, and execution, with direct influence on product roadmaps, innovation priorities, and go-to-market direction.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and size attractive growth markets using customer, trend, and competitive analysis
Define customer segments, unmet needs, and competitive positioning
Develop clear, evidence-based points of view on market opportunities and strategic priorities
Lead customer and market research through interviews, surveys, and field observation
Translate insights into opportunity definitions for Product Management and Engineering
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, Sales, and leadership to align on market direction
Build and prioritize business cases for new growth initiatives
Track post-launch performance and refine value propositions and go-to-market strategies
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related technical field
5–10 years of experience in strategic marketing, market research, or business development
Experience in B2B, industrial, manufacturing, or technical environments strongly preferred
Strong analytical skills, including market sizing and competitive assessment
Proven ability to influence across functions without direct authority
Clear communicator able to translate insight into action
Comfortable operating in evolving and ambiguous environments
Ability to travel up to 50%, including 8–12 visits to Appleton annually if working remotely
