
Saratoga Associates is seeking knowledgeable candidates to fill the full-time position of Landscape Designer as part of our Community Planning and Design team. Candidates should have 2-3 years of professional experience in landscape architecture/design. This position will support our firm’s landscape architecture services, including site design, planting plans, and stormwater management for projects including residences, parks, trails, waterfronts, and streetscapes.
This position is ideal for candidates that are looking to expand their experience as a member of a client-focused, multi-disciplinary design team of landscape architects, architects, engineers, and planners. Candidates should be well organized and self-motivated to work effectively, both independently and in a team-based environment.
Our office is located just off Broadway in the City of Saratoga Springs, within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, parks, live music, and the Saratoga Race Course. We are just minutes from Saratoga Lake and Spa State Park—home to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC).
Education/Experience
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, from an accredited program
2-3 years of professional experience in a design or engineering firm
Responsibilities
Work with a multi-disciplinary design team including day-to-day communication with design consultants, contractors, and subcontractors
Report to a Project Manager and assist in general production of illustrative graphics and site plans, construction documents, and technical specifications
Ability to participate in site visits, client/stakeholder engagement meetings, and design and construction progress meetings
Ability to travel; occasional overnights may be necessary
Requirements
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture
Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D / CAD and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
Knowledge of general site construction principles, techniques, and procedures
Demonstrate sound analytical, research, writing, and oral communication skills
Demonstrate dependability, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic
Demonstrate organized and self-motivated execution of responsibilities
Possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license in good standing
Proof of US citizenship or permanent resident status
Desired Skill Sets
Experience with site construction projects, including civil engineering, landscape architecture, and stormwater management
Familiarity with plant materials suited to the Northeast region preferred
Familiarity with SketchUp or other 3D modeling software
Compensation $58,000–$65,000 salary, commensurate with education and experience.
