We are seeking experienced, professional KOREAN translators to join our exclusive ELECTIONS team. In this independent contractor role, you will provide high quality written translations between English and Korean. Successful applicants will have past Elections experience, exceptional time management skills and a commitment to linguistic excellence.

Minimum Requirements

Reside in the United States

18+ years of age

Five (5) years of professional experience providing written translations to local, state or federal U.S. government offices as a contractor, sub-contractor, employee, freelancer or volunteer. Two (2) of the five (5) years of experience must have been acquired within the last five years. Note: The resume you submit must clearly outline your five years of government-related translation experience and include dates. Elections experience is a plus.

Availability to support Prisma after business hours (evenings) and on weekends and holidays during an Election cycle

Willing to abide by Prisma's Master Service Agreement (MSA) and related Addenda

High proficiency in English and a native speaker of the target language(s)

Reliable desktop PC or laptop with dedicated, secure, high-speed internet connection

Experience using modern CAT tools (e.g. XTM, Trados, etc.)

Adobe Acrobat on your device and the ability to use Adobe's markup tools on a PDF file

At least ONE (1) of the following credentials

You will be asked to provide proof

Current voting member in good standing of the American Translators Association (ATA)

Current member in good standing of the American Association of Language Specialists

Vietnamese translators - certified through the Society of Translators and Interpreters of British Columbia

Certified and registered on the California Judicial Council Master List

Categorized as "Certified" or "Professionally Qualified" by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts

Accreditation by a regional or national accrediting agency recognized by the United States Secretary of Education

Accreditation by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges

Alternative Qualifications

Native speaker of the target language

Educated in both English and the other language. Your resume must outline your educational background in a language-related field of study

5+ years of professional experience translating for local, state or federal government offices as a contractor or sub-contractor. Two (2) of the five (5) years of experience must have been acquired within the last five years.

Tasks & Responsibilities

Provide written translations using a Computer-Assisted Translation (CAT) tool. We provide XTM to you

Adhere to all project work instructions, glossaries and reference materials

Ensure the source content's concept, style and register are culturally and linguistically appropriate for the target language

Perform language quality check steps (before delivery) to ensure the target translation is error‑free and true to the meaning of the source document

Deliver completed translation jobs by the given deadlines and project budgets

Review formatted target language PDF files for accuracy; concisely mark any corrections needed. Using Adobe mark‑up tools is required

Communicate in a timely and professional manner with Prisma team members

Participate in quality management processes, e.g. Corrective Action Reports (CARs), Root Cause Analyses (RCAs), process improvement and solution implementation

Take all measures necessary to protect and keep private sensitive information shared with you to carry out translation projects (e.g. PHI, PII, SBU)

Adhere to policies and processes defined in Prisma's Master Service Agreement (MSA) and the Prisma Vendor Guide

Other Attributes

Familiarity with voting materials: voter information guides, ballot measures, flyers, etc

Excellent communication skills and quick responses to Prisma requests

Ability to accommodate fast turnarounds for last‑minute urgent corrections

High attention to detail – essential for proofreading and verifying names, numbers, dates, etc. and identifying font corruption in a non-English formatted document (PDF)

Integrity and impartiality for handling sensitive content

Awareness to understand cultural differences; ensure translated materials are appropriate and clear to specific communities

Advanced ability to translate complex or specialized jargon into clear, concise language

Ability to ask clarifying questions about technical or unclear content to ensure accuracy
