With $1000 HIRING BONUS!! Glen Park at Long Beach is now looking for someone to join our team in an Activities Director position to work with seniors with memory impairments.
The Korean Activities Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing a variety of activities for residents. This role promotes social engagement as well as independence in activities of daily living within the community.
Duties and Responsibilities
Designs and conducts activities that encourage continued social functioning and independence in activities of daily living. Ensures the activity program includes the following:
- A. Socialization: Activities that encourage interaction among residents, such as reminiscence group discussions, current events discussions, bingo, arts and crafts, period music, and pet care activities.
- B. Activities of Daily Living: Activities that support independent functioning, including walks within the building, morning and afternoon snacks, breakfast outings, and lunch outings.
- C. Leisure-Time Activities: Activities that promote personal interests and resident involvement, such as card games, bowling, movie matinees, and gardening.
- D. Physical Activities: Activities that develop and maintain strength, coordination, and range of motion, including Velcro games, dancing, and exercise programs.
- E. Educational Activities: Opportunities for continued learning and engagement, such as police and fire department safety presentations, travel presentations, and Bible study.
- F. Community-Centered Activities: Participation in community events such as concerts, tours, and plays; involvement in community‑organized group activities, including local senior center programs; free time that allows residents to engage in activities of their own choosing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Minimum of one year of related experience
- Ability to pass a physical examination and criminal background check
- Current certification in Basic First Aid and CPR
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
Special Skills Required
Demonstrates the personal qualities, physical stamina, and professional competence needed to work effectively with older adults, families, and staff.
Lines of Supervision
- No authority to delegate responsibilities
- Reports directly to the Administrator
- Authorized by the Administrator to design and conduct activities that support residents’ social functioning and independence in activities of daily living
- Serves as a backup to the Office Manager as needed
