
Associate Director of Campus Life (Boston)

The Center for Campus Life seeks an Associate Director of Student Organizations and Orientation. Reporting to the Director of Campus Life, the Associate Director is pivotal in cultivating a vibrant and engaged campus community by providing guidance and support to over 80 student organizations. The Associate Director contributes significantly to enhancing the student experience and fostering a sense of belonging within the campus community. This role is a leader within the Center for Campus Life and must be able to implement the vision and strategies set by the Director for the department. This role requires flexibility, including availability for night and weekend work, and a commitment to student development and engagement.
Programming and Engagement (60%)
Serve as the advisor for the Assembly of Clubs and Professional Organizations (ACPO), a student leadership group that supports 80+ student organizations Support professional academic organizations with recruitment, events, initiation, and orientation Oversee the New Club Application process and acceptance/training of new clubs/professional organizations. Support and train faculty and staff advisors who serve as guiding mentors for student organizations Manage student organization travel, including approval of travel and management of associated paperwork and contracts Collaborate with other departments such as the Business Office, Catering, Facilities, Legal, and Public Safety to ensure all student organization events are planned and executed successfully Attend and support large-scale student club/organization events Oversee the Campus Life Fair, an involvement fair highlighting all 80+ organizations and departments for students in the first month of school Collaborate on Student Leadership 101 events with the Student Leadership Committee Coordinate and implement the Leadership Awards Banquet Assist with large-scale Campus Life programs such as Welcome Week, Campus Life Fair, Family Weekend, Harvest Ball, Late Night Breakfast, and ClamBQ Collaborate with the Manchester and Worcester Campus Life departments regarding student organization policies and procedures Assist with the implementation and administration of the New Student, Transfer and Family/Guest Orientation programs for the Boston Campus Assist with University-wide programs such as Accepted Students Day, Commencement, and Move-In Day Recruitment and Management of Student Leaders (20%)
Recruit, hire, train, and supervise 10 student leaders within ACPO Recruit, hire, train, and supervise 46 orientation leaders Coordinate annual Student Leader Trainings in September and January, the President's Luncheon, and new club and professional organization training. Serve as supervisor for graduate assistant in Campus Life Operations (20%)
Assist student organizations in their operations, including budgeting, event approvals, room reservations, work orders, purchases, reimbursements, contracts, and fundraising Track budget spending all clubs and organizations Oversight of the Cardinal Pride Portal with the organizational operations including officer transition, budget allocation, and management Assist with the operational tasks of the department's involvement platforms such as the Cardinal Pride Portal, Comevo, and University Tickets Assist with departmental operations, including but not limited to office e-mail and phone, timesheets, room reservations, work orders, catering, and billing Required:
Master's degree in higher education administration Minimum of three years of experience working within Campus Life/Student Activities with a focus on involvement, engagement and inclusion Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers Ability to work occasional nights and weekends Proficiency in Microsoft Office Preferred:
Minimum of five years of experience working within Campus Life/Student Activities with a focus on involvement, engagement and inclusion Physical Requirements:
Typical office or administrative working conditions. Staff is not exposed to adverse environmental conditions. Work is primarily sedentary in nature; there are no special physical demands. Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone Must be able to be constantly exposed to weather conditions. Work requires the ability to travel to other campuses and campus events Nights and weekend work on occasion
Compensation
The pay range associated with this posting reflects the amount the University reasonably expects to pay for this role at this time. Salary offers are determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications as well as internal equity, market data and pay in comparison to similarly situated employees doing comparable work.
Hiring Range:
$70,900 - $78,800
